Peeling paint, a whining steering pump and an easily breakable A/C condenser are all top complaints about the 2007 model year. And anyone who doesn't think a busted minivan A/C is a big deal has never taken a summer road trip with kids.
This 2007 Odyssey which is used less than 8 miles per day is going to be my last Honda. I have encountered every problem mentioned with the Honda Odyssey van on this site with this van.
As for this specific problem; the leather back of the seats are detaching at the seams with normal usage of the pockets in the back of the seats. The problem starts by noticing while plastic channels falling from the sides of the back seats. At first, one doesn't know what they are until one starts seeing the backs of the seats coming apart. Once you look inside, you start realizing the unbelievable flimsy way those seat backs are brought together. The leather cover from the back and sides of the seat have black trims that come together in a channel, and then the white channels go on top of those channels to act as a compression device and hold the leather sides together at the seam. Eventually, the tension is enough to make the white compression channels looser and then they fall out all together.
This is bad bad and cheap design, I just can't understand how Honda lived with it from quality control. I will get around to upload pictures.
