After experiencing increasing vibration only during acceleration while driving the 2006 Honda Odyssey, I did some research. As it turns out, the engine mounts (alternately referred to as "motor mounts") are an extremely well-known defect among consumers. I was as much as told by the pleasant young woman who answered at Honda Consumer Affairs that because the safety concerns of broken engine mounts are negligible, that the manufacturer doesn't really care - despite the fact that is a known defect, is extremely prevalent, is recurring requiring many owners to replace the mounts 2,3 4 or more times over the course of ownership, it has a known cause (the "eco drive" system, and can be very expensive to repair. In fact, what she actually said was that my car did not have a recall associated with it. When I informed her that I already knew that, but wanted to register a complaint with Honda and to inquire as to the likelihood of any sort of compensation or repair, I was told to file this complaint. I again explained I'd like to deal with Honda, and was again assured that no one there - no one - was interested in hearing my concerns, nor would anyone there do anything about it without intervention from the government. Why has Honda not issued a recall? excessive vibration at high rates of speed can, and does, cause issues with stability and control. The range of speed at which this problem occurs is widening, and the vibration is becoming increasingly strong. As of now, it occurs only while accelerating, not at all during coasting, mostly at highway or freeway speeds, or lower speeds during rapid acceleration.

Have had this vehicle since new (July 2006). Vehicle/steering/wheels experience significant vibration at 65 to 70mph. Have changed tires, all suspension parts and nothing seems to solve this problem. Been going on since vehicle was new. Have been to dealership many many times and spent a lot of money based on dealership service recommendation but still problem persists. This vehicle is defective and Honda needs to issue recall for this generation of Odyssey as I have read about this issue with many owners of this same type vehicle.

The rear lower motor mounts wear out prematurely and cause unwanted vibrations and steering play. This is a known issue and has not been rectified. The dealership charges $800 to replace the defective parts.....updated 11/13/15 updated 11/17/15.

Experiencing vibration in vehicle during acceleration between 40-60 mph. Took the van to mechanic and was informed that two motors mounts are bad and need replacing. These are not wear and tear items and should not need replacing. This appears to be a problem with Honda Odyssey vans and this problem is not being covered by warranty since the failure occurs around 100K to 150K miles.

Purchased vehicle 5/23/06. Vehicle has vibration in steering wheel since purchase. Honda has balanced wheels twice without solving problem. I took vehicle to dealer 7/13/06 and asked for repair of defect under new car warranty. Dealer refused and gave me a work order stating: Honda representative had found, last time in, " vibration to be normal at this time as per dpsm 999"...in conversation with Honda rep. He told me vibrations are not a defect but a characteristic of this vehicle. Safety, excessive wear on mechanical components and degraded re-sale values are not an issue. It was also my responsibility prior to purchasing vehicle to test drive and determine "characteristics" and either to purchase or decline purchasing on that basis... it appears Honda is attempting to shift the burden and expense of their defects on the consumer.
