This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
The night before Christmas Eve, I was commuting home from the neighboring city, which is about a 25 minute drive home from where I was currently located. It was late in the evening and 2 of my children were in the car with me. I live in a rural area that is extremely dark in most of the areas. As I'm driving along both of my low beams go out without warning. This made for a very dangerous situation. I reacted as quickly as I could to prevent an accident and tried my high beams. Fortunately, they turned on but unfortunately I had to drive the rest of the way home with my high beams on possibly blinding any driver that came in contact with me. Currently the low beams still are not working. I have read forum, after forum, after forum stating how this is a problem from a 2004 to at least a 2010 Odyssey before I discontinued reading any further. I'm not exactly sure what causes but I do know it's not caused by the spark plus, the light bulbs and there is no individual relay for this vehicle low beams independently.
The power sliding door on my driver's side completely fell off. This is due to a faulty hinge with plastic rollers that was I told totally disentgrate after being used normally. This hinge is located at back part of sliding door. I had no warning in any way. There was no warning lights or any sounds of any kind that told me something was wrong. I was closing my door after loading my groceries into my vehicle when the door literally fell off hinges and onto me. Luckily, it was me and not one of my children as I could just barely bear that weight and ended up hurting my back and shoulder because of it. There is no way that they could have, it would have crushed them! My vehicle is available to view issue at request. Please check into this it definitely needs to be recalled and fixed before a child gets hurt! There are thousands of people that have dealt with this happening to them with their Honda Odyssey, why hasn't this vehicle been recalled and fixed" What is going on"
When driving there is a very noticeable blurriness in the windshield. Seems like a defect in the glass. It's like wearing glasses that are way to strong for what you need and makes driving blurry. I am asking for a new windshield as this one is a defect
Car was in park, went to go in drive/reverse and car was beeping that doors were open but all doors were closed. Put car in park, opened all door and reshot them. Put into reverse and started beeping again that doors were not shut.
Brakes are really weak. Even dealerships are of no help. Honda should be held responsible for any untoward incidents due to these defects. Also vsa modulator is faulty and Honda dealership is charging $2K for the repairs!
My husband and I was driving on the freeway out of town for a wedding when all of a sudden we started to smell a really bad smell and the van started to make a noise and sputtering. We quickly exited the next closest exit and the van started to stall. We were not able to accelerate any more. We were already 82 miles from home and not near any businesses. We called roadside service which towed us to the nearest mechanic who told us we needed a new transmission. Our trip was over! we had to pay $350 to tow us back home. My van only has 82,000 miles! I can't believe the transmission failed! this is a safety issue because their were no prior warning before the transmission failure!!!
I was driving fine, all of a sudden, the engine just completely shut down and there was no power. Turn on again, it worked. Drive for 2 miles, it totally shup down again. No power, nothing.
Sliding doors on both sides keep stopping and the one on the left you have to pull it open. Doors are very heavy to pull and slide back safety hazard for my children or other passengers. Several people that I run into are having the same issue. After I purchase the vehicle I had to take it in due to the left back sliding door not opening someone had to get in and push on the door in order for it to open. The first time it happened was around 2012 or 2013. Now it's happening again in N2019. Sometimes while driving the left sliding door will open by itself.
When your driving around 60 to 70 front end starts shaking, vibrating when you let off the gas peddle it stops but when you accelerate it starts again I have read many post of the same issue I have replaced all wheels and same thing is happing
While driving down the interstate approx 80 miles per hour this past June my sunroof shattered. I am fairly certain nothing hit it-just spontaineously shattered.
Passenger side sliding door does not open. If opened does not close at the first attempt, it takes atleast 3-4 attempt to close or open. Sliding door light is on.
The two automatic electronic side doors were grinding and having a hard time closing. When closing or opening, the doors would bounce/skip and return to the starting position. Today the driver side door just fell off the track and was hanging by a thin cable. This also caused some body damage.
This van has been a frustrating nightmare. Besides the pax system tire issues, we have had to fix both sliding doors because they fell off. Last summer the door wouldn't close, then it fell off the track while I was out shopping with my kids. My husband came with some tools and helped to get it closed so we could take it to the auto shop. It was an expensive fix not to mention the damage to the exterior. Yesterday while I was at the library with four of my children ( 8,6,3, and a baby) the other door came off the track. This time, my husband was not around to come help us ( he is deployed serving in afghanistan). We had to get the van towed, and the door stayed open all night because the shop was closed. While there, one of the men working said he is having the same problem with his Odyssey. Looking online I see this is a common issue because a piece was made with nylon ( to reduce noise) when it should have been made with steel. There is obviously something wrong with the hardware on this. Honda needs to fix these, instead of leaving the burden to rest on the consumers who purchased these pieces of junk. What a frustrating situation!
Electrical problem with sliding doors. Right directional in front will not work checked fuses and tried 3 bulbs. Only drivers side window opens. Major major safety issue when your doors and window will not open especially while driving with children
Water collects in the entire trunk/cargo area during and after rain. It has completely covered the entire cargo area including saturating the carpeting with over 4" of standing water in cargo area. Vehicle can either be parked and water collects or while diving locally.
Takata recall. My Honda van has been losing paint for about 2 years now and its getting worse. I have big spots on my roof, hood and sliding doors. I would like this issue fixed asap.
