The initial spark plug fire and rotor repair was done by an independent mechanic. He indicated that the spark plug cables needed replacement but that the computer was not fried. 3 weeks later the VSA system failure occurred and I was towed to same mechanic. He said the engine shut down due to no oil. He did an oil change and I questioned why the low oil level indicator did not come on. At this point the damage has been done as oil consumption is huge now. 1 litre for 250 km. Honda dealer was consulted and they indicated there is no damage to engine but that it need to be replaced. Cost $6,600. Honda indicated it is not worth spending the money at this point. They reprogrammed the check engine light which is off temporarily I am sure. Pretty poor quality engine for a car that has been well maintained and serviced.

ALL NEWER HONDA V-6 ENGINES - 2005 AND UP HAVE AN ENGINE OIL BURNING PROBLEM ISSUE AFTER 75,000 MILES EVEN IF MAINTAINED CORRECTLY. THE ROOT CAUSES ARE THE POORLY DESIGNED AND MANUFACTURED VALVE SEALS AND THE WAY THE VARIABLE VALVE TIMING SHUTS DOWN 3 CYLINDERS DURING ECO MODE CAUSING EXCESSIVE OIL BURNING IN THOSE CYLINDERS AND PLUG FOULING. THE HONDA DEALERS ARE CROOKS AND WILL NOT RESOLVE UNLESS YOU WANT TO GIVE THE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER HONDA AGAIN ! NOTHING LIKE THE RELIABILITY OF THE OLD ONE'S !
