2005 Honda Odyssey liftgate struts failed. Opened the rear liftgate to remove something from the trunk and the liftgate did not stay up. Now everytime I try and open the liftgate, I would need to open with one hand and remove items or put items inside with the other hand.
The contact owns a 2005 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated when opening the rear lift gate, the struts failed and almost struck the contact. He attempted to keep the lift gate from falling but to no avail. He had to hold the lift gate up to prevent it from falling. The manufacturer was contacted and advised him to contact the dealer. The vehicle had not yet been taken to the dealer for an assessment of the failure or repairs. The failure and current mileages were 54,000.
My 2005 Honda Odyssey touring van needed new hatch struts. I have 42,000 miles on van. Labor $44.78 - parts $130.80 - charge for preparing repair order $4.48 - tax $10.81. Total cost $190.87. I told my friend who has a Toyota sienna and he just received a letter from Toyota telling him they have had problems with the hatch struts and have extended the warranty for five years, I think. If you have had the problem repaired already they will pay you back. I wonder if they use the same struts" good customer service from Toyota. Are you listening Honda"
2005 Honda Odyssey tailgate hinge failure. Consumer states that the tailgate fell onto her while she was reaching into the back of the van. Mechanic determined that the left tailgate support malfunctioned and replaced it.
