At about 175,000 miles I started having problem getting the key into the ignition. The problem got worse and worse until it stopped working. Called the dealer for a quote. Said I needed a new ignition and new key. Total cost around $500. Decided to take my luck with a locksmith franchise -- Pop-A-Lock. They said it would be $225 for a repair, and $275 if they had to replace it. It is now day 3 without a car, and it's still not working. Repair didn't work. (This is clearly a very complex job.) Yesterday they replaced the entire ignition, but don't have the right equipment to program the key. Now on day 3 waiting for another repair guy with a newer programming machine to finish the job.
