This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
We are a asian only auto repair shop. We have seen the following failure, six or seven times. On Honda Odyssey vehicles, the inside edge of the aluminum wheels are eating away & destroying the inner bead of the tires. Three of our employees and one of our customers have encountered this. The latest one just happened this weekend, and the wife of our employee had an abrupt pressure loss on the frt tire at 70 mph on the freeway. This scenario can & eventually will result in injury or death. Please follow this up. You may contact me if needed. This has happened with different brands of tires, so it must be attributed to the vehicle, rather than the tire.
There was no tire damage. Do not know how wheels became cracked. Do not know of any impact damage that may of caused such a problem. The tires show no signs of any signifivant impact. Dealer and Honda America contacted and refused to re-imburse me for wheels, and also declined to at least investigate the possible problem with quality of the wheels. I still have both wheels if you need them to be looked at. I obviously had to replace them. I replaced them when I noticed the tires on those wheels loosing air. I greatly appreciate your help.
