We received a recall notice in March 2020 for the airbag of our Honda Odyssey. Turns out the recall dates back to January 17. Honda let us drive the vehicle and put our lives at risk for nearly two months. As of today, Honda did not reply to our letter about airbag replacement nor did they contact us to get the vehicle repaired. The vehicle could not be operated since March and expenses for it are climbing.

Honda sent an "important safety recall" to me. It stated that the parts needed to repair my vehicle are not available. It said no action should be taken by me until parts are made available. I called Honda whose representative stated: 1) the notice really wasn't very important and was only issued to meet a NHTSA requirement. 2) there have only been three incidents and those involved derelict cars in scrap yards. 3) most affected vehicles would only require inspection and not a replacement part. There have been widespread press reports of a fatality and an injury caused by this defect. "BMW says in documents posted by the U.S. government Wednesday that another australian and a driver in cyprus were injured." Https://www.cnbc.com/2019/12/04/takata-recalls-1point4-million-potentially-dangerous-air-bag-inflators.html the absence of parts does not prevent an inspection. That inspection would tell me if my car was safe to drive. Please compel Honda to carry out inspections regardless of the availability of replacement parts. In the event the car is found unsafe, please compel Honda to provide a replacement vehicle.

American Honda motor co., Inc. (Honda) is recalling certain model year 2000 Accord coupe, 2000 Accord sedan, 2000 civic coupe, 2000 civic sedan, 2000-2001 CR-V, and 2000-2001 Odyssey vehicles. These vehicles may have received a replacement driver frontal air bag module as part of a vehicle repair. Due to a manufacturing issue, the replacement nadi inflator may absorb moisture, causing the inflator to rupture or the air bag cushion to underinflate. In the event of a crash necessitating air bag deployment, an inflator rupture may result in metal fragment striking the driver or occupants.

Takata recall in January, 2014, I left the road to avoid another car, hit a deer-crossing sign which then deployed the drivers airbag. The airbag blasted out to the right of the steering wheel thus hitting my right arm. My right arm was broken and required surgery to repair. 2 titanium plates and 15 screws. Black cloud of what must have been a propellant was pumped into my face and upper body. The skin on my right hand peeled 4 times.

The contact sustained injuries to both hands and the face as a result of the deployment and stated that he believed that the slight impact should not have triggered the air bag deployment.
