Hondo Odyssey, 2001 door latches. Door did not close completely for about 3 months. Then door completely stopped opening or closing even after resetting the system. Honda gave me an estimate of $995 for the left door and $875 for the right door. I know prior two years this model was produced the latch was recalled. I can not find a recall for my vehicle. I feel it has the same problem as the 1999 and 2000.

The sliding doors on our 2001 Honda odysey ex will not remain closed and often open slightly while driving, triggering the interior buzzer system. This problem occurs off and on during random occasions with no apparent warning or cause. The sliding door fuses have been reset numerous times and the battery has been replaced, but the problem fails to be remedied. This is a dangerous situation and I am concerned for the safety of my children/passengers when riding in the vehicle, as I never know when the sliding doors may fail to stay closed!

Honday odysse sliding doors fail to open. This has happened a few times. The only way to fix it is to pull out a fuse and reset the door computer.

2001 Honda Odyssey van - the sliding passenger doors fail to open or close periodically. Much of the time the sliding doors are in the closed position and will not open. This is unsafe as the passengers in the back cannot exit the car in a timely manner. Children are not strong enough to open them manually. The van has been to the dealer to remedy this problem but the fix is always temporary. The problem is electrical or the door motors wear out. It is hazardous to be unable to enter or exit this vehicle as needed.

Honda 2001 Odyssey ex. 1. door would buzz and not shut completely. Both power sliding doors of minivan. 2. had children who were trapped and had to climb out of the front passenger seat to get out of the van. Also, had to drive down the road with the door partially ajar. 3. fuse #13 was pulled, doors were lubricated. Honda then told me it was the motor. Then a day later when both doors wouldn't work they said it's the contact pins that need to be replaced.

Honda Odyssey 01 ex model, power slide doors. Many times in the past years, we have experienced the sliding door alarm chimes or the doors fail to close/open. While driving the sliding door alarms shows that the door is opened and buzzes. This causes us to stop car and check the doors with no clue what the problem is. A few times, the door could not be opened and had to be opened manually. Had to use extreme force to open the door. This is ok if only one side failed, but both doors failed last week. I reset the fuse but that only fixed one door leaving the driver side sliding door locked.

The sliding doors on my Honda Odyssey will not open. At intermittent times the simply cease to work. This creates a terrible safety problem as the passengers cannot exit the car, nor can anyone get into the car if there is an emergency.

While car shopping at a local Honda dealership we observed that the power sliding doors on a 2001 Honda Odyssey do not have any emergency stopping mechanism should an arm or other body part be in the way of the door when it is closing. My hand was in the door when it was attempting to close and it was slightly pinched. I moved away from it avoiding serious injury. We tested the door several times after this and it responded the same way each time. It did not stop unless the key fob was used. When we pointed this out to the salesman we were told that we were the first people that had noticed this. If you pull on the door handle from the exterior it initiates the door closing automatically. For a small child that might use that handle as a method of entry this could be extremely dangerous. The salesman said that it was probably different on a newer model. We didn't check on the condition of a newer model to see if it has been remedied or not.

The drivers side door on my 2001honda Odyssey stopped working on 3/12/2004. I cannot open the door no matter what I do. I took it to a dealership at the time, and was told that the "door contacts were too small, and it was fixed on the new models. They charged me $250 to get the door open and told me it would cost aproximately $800 to fix it properly. The door stopped working within 2 months. I have been waiting for a recall, but no recall was ever issued. I feel this is a safety issue since that door will not open and if I had a collision or an emergency the passenger on the driver side could not exit the van quickly. I have owned many, many Honda and consider myself a Honda person but this problem is causing me to rethink my loyalty. I want someone to take Honda to task for this problem!!!!!

The sliding doors do not stop when something, actually when someone is in the way. Isn't there a sensor or something which should stop the doors from closing on someone?

The door handles of the sliding doors of my 2001 Honda Odyssey minivan have broken at least once, possibly twice, since taking ownership from the dealer. The doors have a tendency to "stick", making it difficult to open. And opening either of the sliding doors when in such condition may and does cause the door handle to break and become useless. The dealership that I do send my vehicle to for routine maintenance has the records of file of these incidents with the broken door handles. I also have spoken with other owners of the same vehicle, and they too have had similar incidents with the door handles.

While the van was parked in the driveway the consumer heard a loud noise coming from the van like metal hitting metal. The noise was due to the coil spring breaking. The van was towed to the dealer and the technician stated, "we've never seen this problem". the sliding door can't be opened from the inside.

Automatic sliding doors apply dangerous pressure to people before retracting. I have been hurt twice by being crushed and bruised by doors closing on my body when door was accidently activated while loading children and passengers. The sensor to retract does not operate as indicated by manufacturer. This defect poses serious danger to children. Also, both sliding doors have been malfunctioning since Oct 2002. Will almost close, then retract with nothing obstructing them. Dealer has attempted to repair this malfunction four times in the last year starting at 25,000 miles with no success. Faulty junction switches have been replaced and doors rehoned but malfunctions continue to happen approx every couple months and mileage is now at 38,000. Driver side window is very slow to raise. Faulty regulator was replaced Oct, 2002. Almost a year later, the problem continues to occur with dealer saying it just needs cleaning. Car has been serviced three times in the last year for this problem.

2001 Honda van : automatic sliding side door was closing after someone engaged remote door close. Door closed on me slowly, but force of door motor was quite strong to the point were I nearly paniced. I had slightly sore ribs for the next two days. I am 5'11'' and 165lbs and of good strength. My concern is for my 18 month son who would have definitely sustained major injuries. Has ther been any reported serious injuries or death with these type doors? please advise....thanks.
