Purchased used 2000 Honda Odyssey from Honda dealership (366 ml). Took great care of vehicle, at 80,309 ml transmission needed replacing. Researched issue found that for the 2000 Honda Odyssey, Honda acknowledged a manufacturer's defect with the transmissions used. My vehicle was of Canadian origin however it was nonetheless affected by this particular flawed transmission as verified by my VIN. In response to an acknowledged defective transmission used in the 2000 Honda Odyssey Honda responds by extending warranties to 7yr/100,000 miles. However because my vehicle is a Canadian model Odyssey it doesn't matter to american Honda that is was affected by the faulty transmission they will not honor any service to correct their acknowledged manufacturer's defect. There are numerous consumers in my same position- an acknowledged manufacturer defect specific to our 2000 Honda Odyssey yet for corporate reasons Honda refuses to be accountable to us for something they have already taken responsibility for and have selectively provided remedy to correct. Not extending the same recourse as was provided to all other 2000 Honda Odyssey owners in both Canada and America has excluded a population of owners that are nonetheless affected. For Honda to provide remedy to select 2000 Honda Odyssey owners and refuse remedy to a certain class of individuals is extremely irresponsible. This specific transmission defect is clearly a manufacturer/safety issue in that a defective transmission can severely impede the performance of a vehicle. Honda has acknowledged the defect yet selectively provided certain vehicle owners recourse but failed to provide all. These defective vehicles abandoned by Honda create safety concerns not only for the vehicle driver but also to anyone on the road with them. Honda needs to take responsibility for all affected vehicles.

Transmission replaced at approximately 1000 miles due to defective torque converter according to servicing Honda dealership. Van pulls hard to the right. Problem first noted day after delivery. Has been in dealership service department several times for this problem. Dealer replaced Firestone tires with michelins, replaced wheels and performed 4 wheel alignment. Pulling to right problem not solved. Returned to dealer and the service manager verified that it is not a wheel, tire nor alignment problem. Service manager told me that it is probably due to the crown in the road. Van pulls hard to right on all roads within a matter of seconds of taking hands of off the wheel. My other two vehicles driven on the same roads and in the same lanes do not pull to the right nor left.( dot number: )
