The contact owns a 2000 Honda Odyssey. While driving 60 mph, the brake, ABS, maintenance, check engine, and battery warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle stalled and the contact was unable to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle experienced a severe oil leak, slipping transmission, and alternator failure. The contact was informed by an independent mechanic that the oil failure caused the drive belts to slip, which caused a failure in the alternator recharging the battery as intended. The contact stated that the battery needed to be replaced due to the oil leak. The contact attempted to contact (stockton Honda, 2002 E hammer ln, stockton, ca 95210, (844) 237-1845), but was unsuccessful. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 279,000.

Transmission not shifting right, lock out, car not moving. Van cannot go in reverse. Before it happened notice that when turning left, indoor lighting flickers especially obvious at night time driving. At stop it hesitate and when stepping at accelerator, the van jerks and jumps to high speed causing me to brake right away, felt a whiplash every time. Check recall ended after seven years but owner did nor receive any letter from Honda office about the recall. Try to contact Honda but told me recall ended.

- my Honda Odyssey 2000 got the 1st transmission breakdown at 106K miles in 7/2009. Honda agreed to pay half of the repair cost and I paid half (~$2000) to replace a new remanufactured transmission fr Honda. - the 2nd transmission last me another 34K miles (4 years) and it suddenly broke down yesterday. - I lose trust in Honda. Not sure if Honda still continue honor their warranty on the transmission with they claimed they have fix the issue on the remanufactured transmission.

All the motor mounts and transmission mounts need to be replaced. I've never heard of this being an issue in any other vehicle, but after doing a quick google search I discovered it is common in Odyssey. We should be able to drive our vehicles without being concerned for the stability of our engine and tranny. This just shouldn't happen.

My Honda Odyssey (year 2000) stopped at a traffic light, then when green light was on, it roared big time at very high RPM, and moved very little. Lots of cars behind me. After about a minute, my car suddenly moved, and moved as normal as usual. Since then, especially when it is cold, my cars moves very teeny-tiny bit after a stop, and then suddenly pull forward. The situation is even worse if my car stops at bottom of a hill, then climbing up the hill after that is a big challenge. I was told it is probably transmission problem, there was a recall. But Honda dealers said Honda does not share any cost if I replace the transmission system (about $4000) which is recommended by the dealer, because it is out of warranty period, even though the mileage is now just a bit more than 70K.

This vehicle has encountered numerous engine and transmission problems since we acquired it in 2006. The transmission failed at just over 100,000 miles. After a huge fight with Honda they reluctantly agreed (because it was just outside of the "warranty extension" for this known defect) to pay half the cost of the repair. Check engine lights continued to come on, in addition to other issues, including egr problems, despite replacing the egr, etc. The vehicle is now at approximately 165,000 miles and the transmission has failed again!!

  • 107,000 miles
I have bought my used Odyssey in January 2012 from a dealer and the transmission failed at 107,000 miles. I know there was a recall in 2004 that had the warranty up to 100,000 miles and an approved class lawsuit in 2006 that extended the warranty up to 109,000 miles. Therefore, my van is still under the warranty since its at 107,000. I strongly request that this issue is resolved as soon as possible and that Honda fixes and pays for the repair; or at least give me a call and discuss the matter. It is not possible for me to pay for the transmission entirely because I am a student and I simply cannot afford it. Thank you.

Front motor mount broken and side mount worn. Both need replacing. Reading blogs and finding this is a very common problem on Honda, which Honda refuses to take any responsibility for.
