2000 Honda Odyssey LX. Both sliding doors stick when either opening from the inside or outside. Not major injury - yet! I am concerned if anything did happen and we could not get the doors open in a hurry. Then what?
I am the owner of a 2000 Honda Odyssey and am having problems with the rear sliding door not closing. It requires us to drive with the light on which is a safety issue at night. The buzzer sounds intermittently causing us to manually turn off power to the door hence trapping our passengers in the car should there be an accident. My mechanic indicates that there are no technical service bulletins on this problem. This is an incessant problem and a major safety hazard.
Electronic doors do not shut completely. We believe this is a safety hazard since the doors to not lock completely. The buzzer has to be disabled for our sanity. We have taken the van to the dealer numerous times but a permanent fix cannot be made. These doors have been defective since the van was first released, and they are a safety hazard. I am afraid the partially closed door may open at high speed, causing possible injury to my children, or causing the distracted driver to swerve into oncoming traffic. This defect must be addressed by Honda.
The sliding doors on my van come open after they have been closed. I took it to be repaired twice and it is still not fixed then someone told me that the part that needed to be fixed had been recalled so I contacted Honda and they said that my vehicle VIN number did not fall into this recall even though it said all Honda Odyssey 1999-2001 my Honda is a 2000. He said that I could have it repaired myself because this was a service bulletin not a recall anyway, that their parts don't last forever. The lady at the national highway traffic safety admin. Auto safety hotline said that it was a recall and to contact this web site.
We (my wife and I) have a 2000 Honda Odyssey ex. The automatic electric sliding doors are constantly breaking and they cost a small fortune to repair. We purchased the Honda because of their reputation for creating reliable automobiles. At a minimum, they should offer a way to convert the door from automatic to manual so they can be safely closed and so the automatic mechanism doesn't have to be repaired every 6 months.

The automated power sliding doors on our 2000 Honda Odyssey minivan does not latch properly. While driving the car we get an alarm light on our dash indicating a automated sliding door is not properly closed, and then we have to repeatedly hit the close door button to get the door to finally engage. Even though all Odyssey's made in 2000 were recalled for this problem, Honda motor has told us that our 2000 Odyssey is not included in 2000 recall campaign, and we will have to pay to repair it ourselves.
: the contact stated while traveling 45 mph the rear power passenger side door opened. The dealership determined the door latch needs to be replaced. There is a NHTSA recall, # 00V119000, regarding the door latch; however, it is not included in the recall due to the VIN. Updated 6/16/2006 -
I have a 2000 Honda Odyssey. Two weeks ago, my sliding door sensor went off for no reason. The doors were closed but when the vehicle was placed into drive the alarm in the car would sound as if one of the doors was open. I checked the doors and after a couple of times of opening and closing them, the alarm did not sound. I was due to have the car serviced for its 75,000 mile service so I waited to bring it into the dealership. When I brought the vehicle in for it's routine service, as I do for each scheduled maintenance, I was told that the door switch was the problem and that it would cost $1,100 to fix. I explained that the vehicle was under an extended warranty that I purchased at the time I bought the vehicle. Honda in turn told me that they had called the warranty company (apparently the warranty was not a Honda extended warranty. Although, this is what rosenthal had portrayed it as) about the repair and that it was not covered. They told me that I could call the warranty company to complain if I felt so inclined to do. I called the warranty company and they said that the warranty had expired because of the mileage. The vehicle is just over 75,063 miles. They did not care that the warranty had expired. My question is how can this be a non-recall issue if a number of people have had the same problem. This situation is the exact reason why I purchased Honda's extended warranty. I believe that Honda is responsible for the repair. If I had know the doors on this vehicle would cost that much to fix I would have never purchased that van.
Automatic doors on 2000 Honda Accord do not operate correctly. Safety mechanism does not prevent door from closing on child. Doors do not close completely and are faulty. Doors need complete replacement at 64K miles due faulty equipment.
The caller said the passenger side sliding door opens without warning. It happens when driving. The indicator light comes on, and the alarm goes off. The caller says the door does not open all the way. Had it to the dealer 10 times for this problem. Dealer said it was dirty connections and did not do anything to fix it. Manufacturer will offer no help for free. Also, the caller received a recall letter concerning gas recirculation valve ( egr valve). The manufacturer will not approve the recall work. Also wanted to take vehicle to the dealer. The rotors were resurfaced, the seat reclined when the consumer exited the vehicle.
Both left and right side passenger sliding door latch/closers failed. The drivers side failed in 02. And the latch was replaced under the warentee. The passenger side has failed recently, Aug. 05. the failure, and replacement parts are as described in a 2000 Honda recall id # 00V119000, but, in contacting Honda directly, was told my vehicles VIN # was not a recall vehicle.
The passenger sliding door would automatically open while driving. Intermittently the sliding doors would lock by themselves, and not open from either side. Also, the door ajar/open alarm remained on while driving, and both doors would be closed. Consumer would have to turn off the sliding door switch to turn off the alarm, which caused both doors not to open in case of an emergency. The vehicle is at the dealer.
While driving 30 mph, the passenger rear sliding door open on it's own. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection. The mechanic determined that the door latch assembly needed to be replaced and replaced it numerous times. However, the problem still occurs at this time.
Over the course of a couple of weekds sliding side doors on the vehicle would open on their own. Then, the sliding door on the passenger side stopped working completely. It would not open without significant application of manual force.
00 V 119 000/ sliding door latch: The van's automatic sliding door would open while in motion. The dealer was contacted and they informed the consumer that their VIN # was not covered under recall.
Driver side rear sliding door fails to close completely - sometimes leaves approximatley a four inch gap between door post and edge of door. Door must either be pushed closed or re-opened completely and then closed with pressure on rear door edge. Occasionally, door will seem locked (dashboard open door indicator light is off) and when making right turns, both the open door indicator light flashes and ceiling map lights will flash on and off when turn has been completed, the lights will go off. After reading all the other consumer complaints, I am extremly concerned that either the door(s) will open during driving or the door(s) will not open during an emergency situation. I cannot believe Honda would subject itself to this type of potential liability.
Power doors consistently fail to operate properly. Passenger side sliding door opens while driving and, often, cannot be shut manually. The last visit to the dealership, 2 days ago, they informed us they would replace some of the door parts. Despite 'fixing' the problem, the door will not shut at all and the dealer replaced the sensors so it no longer buzzes when the door is open. This is a severe problem. Van has been in 12X for this problem. Driver side sliding door often does not open at all.
