So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
At 73,000 miles my transmission needs to be replaced. Many other people have reported this problem. Two incidents were cited in the los angeles times of catastrophic failures that could lead to serious accidents. This car is our family vehicle, I am scared of what might happen even if the transmission is replaced. Several posts to the internet indicate that people have replaced the transmission up to three times over the life of the vehicle. I understand Honda has issued a recall or extended the warranty on the 2000-2001 Odyssey but will not being doing anything for the 1999 model. Also, the locking actuator on the door of the vehicle has failed repeatedly. The alarm system will arm, but the door is not locked. When the door is then opened the alarm sounds. This has scared my children enough to make them run from the vehicle to the street. This problem appears to corrected now, but it took three tries. Nlm
Latch assembly to power sliding door has failed, unable to close or lock door. Dealer contacted.there was recall 00V119000; but this vehicle not included due to VIN.
Sliding door does not have pressure sensor. 7 year old thumb was stuck in door, and door didn't slide back to indicate that something was stuck in it. Dealer contacted. The vehicle"S doors detect only heavier pressure and could cause injuries to children"S hands.
Driver's side electrical sliding door does not secure properly. Door can open if pulled without force. Owner took van to dealer, door is completely inoperative.
Alert buzzer of both sliding doors go off intermittently while driving. The vehicle has been taken to the dealer 5-6 times. The tracks and contacts have been cleaned, does not remedy the problem. Due to the constant buzzing of the door alarm as if the door is opened, consumer resulted to turning off the automatic door feature, but when using the doors manually, the doors are hard to open.
In August the vehicle was taken to the dealer for the left sliding door not working properly. They advised it had a broken center roller and it was replaced (at a deductible cost 100). In November the dealer was contacted and advised the same door they worked on was beeping continuously (the chime for the door not latched), and that there was 1 occurrence of the door opening on the highway 1foot on it's own. The dealer looked it and advised it had a broken latch. Over the next 2 weeks they were contacted 2 times for me to be advised it wasn't in yet. 3 weeks after the last visit to the dealer they said I could bring it in on Friday 12/28. By this time the door had opened for the second time on it's own. They initially looked at the door and asked what was the problem--they were again advised of the problems. They replaced the door latch again at a deductible cost of 100. The mechanic advised they work on these all of the time and he felt they should get a better fix since it is safety related (mini-van, doors opening on own, children--didn't mix). The vehicle was purchased as a Canadian model. VIN [xxx], I have NHTSA recall campaign notice 00V119000 but was advised my vehicle didn't "need" that done. It didn't fall in the recall program---based on my 2 problems I feel it should. Please let me know what I may do to see that this is fixed properly. I am thinking of selling the vehicle due to this safety problem but cannot in good conscience pass this only another person. Thank you. Power sliding door will open unexpectedly during operation of vehicle. Dealership informed consumer this vehicle was not included in any recall. Previous owner had this problem examined by dealership. Mechanics cleaned ground and slide for sliding door failing to effectively remedy the problem. Please provide any additional information / documentation.
Automatic sliding doors stops at 50% of travel. Doors (left and right) will not close. Doors appear to close but 'door open' alarm is activated. Doors stuck in full open position.
Sliding doors would fail to suction tight, door cannot be readily opened. Would struggle to get it open. Handle had came off twice in owner's hand. At dealer's 1st time, consumer was charged to replace handle and check door. The 2nd time, suction tape was replaced, but it failed after awhile. Vehicle is going back for a third time for same problem.
Driver side power door failed to open manually or by power lock, dealer replaced and later it failed again, both left and right doors failed simultaneously and passenger could not get out of vehicle.
Consumer complained that due to manufacturer's design was unable to override electric door lock by using door handle. Design issue was a serious problem for disabled or elderly persons to reach across their shoulders to lift/move manual unlock switch. The lock/unlock switch for the doors does not operate when electrical power is not available. The consumer also stated that the switch should not unlock all dooors. That is, should unlock only those doors that the consumer desires to unlock.
Passenger's side sliding door not opening properly since purchase. Taken to dealer for repair 5-6 times. Dealer replaced latches. Currently, door opened while driving 55 mph. Consumer able to close with remote control, does not open or close manually.
The sliding doors freeze shut after it has rained at night and temperatures fall below freezing, the water freezes the rollers that slide in the track, leaving both sliding doors impossible to open.
Sliding side door stick. They do not open smoothly. I have confirmed this with other owners. The dealer says they just need lubricating. And they seem to snicker when I mention the doors as if they know something is wrong. This last time that prompted this report is that the actual door handle came off!! thank you.
Erratic power lock operation, intermittently lock would unlock by itself after locking by panel control or remote. Also, sliding door would open approximately 6" and remain open until vehicle was turned off. Then, would wait a few minutes and restart vehicle. Dealer notified, and and made some repairs. Please feel free to provide any further details.
Electric sliding doors are still unlatching.recall was taken care off in 1999. Recall id#99V159000/ manufacturer's recall#99054. Consumer will contact dealer.
