What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request: CVT transmission failed. Was inspected by a third party How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk: the car was unable to accelerated on the highway. We nearly got hit Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center: The Same problem was evident in previous models 2016-2020 HRVs and a product update and warranty extension was issued for those cars. Upon contacting Honda, they told me because there I'm above warranty, and there's no recalls, the repairs would have to come out of pocket Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others: No Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear: no warning light or symptoms
When I start my car and shift it from reverse to drive on cold mornings, there is a pronounced delay in the car moving. In addition, when I have to abruptly brake the transmission occasionally slips and/or skips. I brought this car brand new and I have only had it seven weeks. I should not have performance issues at the stage. My previous car was a Honda Accord with 310,000 miles and the transmission started to decline similar to this in the last few months. The car is at the dealership now and they said they cannot replicate this issue. The weather is starting to become warmer and my concern is that they will minimize my concerns until it is no longer covered under warranty. Mike in the service department indicated that I have a cvt transmission. However, a car's transmission should not be delayed in moving especially if it is new. I am writing because I do not want someone else to experience purchasing a new vehicle with performance issues.
