I hadn't used or needed air conditioning since Nov. 2018 (winter). When I attempted to use the air conditioning in my 2017 Honda HRV around mid-March of this year (2019), it didn't work at all. I've since been given the run-around by corporate Honda, who refuses any monetary assistance since I'm 5,000 miles outside of the warranty. What I tried to propose to customer service as a gray area or mitigating circumstance is that I'd logged 7,448 miles (just from commuting to work) since last needing/using the air conditioning in my vehicle. As such, it's possible that the hole/leak in my evaporator coil happened while still under warranty--but I would have had no way of knowing about the defect. My local dealership has confirmed that the hole isn't the result of anything external or anything I did, as the damaged part is located inside the dash. My vehicle is currently in the dealership's service center, so I won't know until next week what I'll have to pay out of pocket to have this fixed. Not only am I concerned about the way I was treated by Region Manager Teri (of American Honda Motor Company's customer service department), but I'm also concerned that other HRV owners will begin seeing this issue in their still-new investments.
