Apparently, car manufacturers tried to do the right thing and switch from plastic to an environmentally friendly soy based wire covering. Fine. Rodent damage is nothing new but I owned a Honda Civic for 16 years and never had an issue. I finally bought a new Honda to discover the soy based product is a tasty delicacy to rodents all over the united states. Knowing rodent damage is an issue wouldn't this have been a factor considered -what product would deter rodents from eating car wires. I contacted Honda Corporate who said this was not a defect and would not be covered under the warranty. However, it is a defect. Its sort of like an aneurysm in the human body which is a weakened blood vessel wall just waiting to explode and cause havoc. You never know when this could happen.

I was fortunate. The warning lights all came on when I tried to start the car. I thought maybe it was a battery issue. Since I could drive the car I drove directly to dealership to check it out. I don't blame the dealership either-they were great. (JL Freed in Montgomeryville PA)

If Honda knows there is an issue why don't they just tell the truth to their customers. We are aware of the issue and we will do what we can to remedy the issue. Have patience and give us some time. I would be willing as a loyal customer to pay some reasonable amount of money to help keep my dealership in business. However, to blow me off and tell me this is not being covered under warranty has left me feeling quite irritated. So, I have contacted the Center for Auto Safety, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Im listing my complaint here.

I'm not a litigious person.(there is an active lawsuit against Honda for the soy wiring) However, I am sort of like the annoying rodents and won't stop until I receive some sort of reasonable answer from Honda.

C'mon Honda step up to the plate and eat some humble pie. I think you would be surprised how customers would support you.
