This is a very odd issue w the brake frozen and unable to depress. The foot brake needs to be tapped as you push the start button. I assumed as a new owner jumping from a 2000 honda civic to a 2016 HRV fob technology I was just unfamiliar w the newer technology. I was actually stranded at a friends house until 3 am in the morning waiting for 24 hour service to arrive and finally sick of waiting was able to start the car.
I have had the car for 2 years and this has happened about 8 or 9 times. I took it to car dealership about two weeks ago to check it out. The mechanic told me this was a common issue but if you push the brake pedal hard it will start the car. My mechanic looks to be about about 6' tall and maybe 250lbs. I am 130 and 5'2 ok, I'm pretty strong but the pedal is not budging.
I have been told Honda is aware of the situation but there is no fix at this time.
Hey, instead of wasting time w all the new fangled technology how about just making a no nonsense car that works and functions perfectly-like my Honda civic 2000.
