I didn't pay too much attention to the door panels until after we bought the car and they became instant dust and lint catchers. The lower part of the panel is easy to maintain plastic and the upper panel is this thin, soft , semi loose fitting fabric that has a medium weave. It is going to be impossible to keep clean and maintain and does not appear durable. Closest thing I can compare it to is black tee shirt material. I am wondering what is underneath it since the bottom of the panel is plastic. I will look into the cost of having the fabric replaced with leatherette that can be cleaned. Granted this is the LX model but even so....So far the rest of the car is alright and it gets good mileage. We have 500 miles in it and are getting 35.2 mpg combined City/Highway. Our older SUV is a 2008 Mercury Mariner and comfort wise the HRV doesn't compare but the Mariner is bigger and has leather seats. It also only gets 26 MPG. The HRV headrests are uncomfortable no matter how they are positioned but they are to prevent neck injury and not meant to be a pillow. We can live with them. The Honda is a zippy little SUV and fun to drive. The dealers can't keep them in stock. Why the inferior trim on the door panels?
