I had the rear window on my 2016 Honda Fit shatter spontaneously. The car was parked in my garage for 4 days over the holiday weekend, and nobody had entered the garage at any point during that time. When I went to move the car on Monday, I noticed that the rear window had shattered completely. There were no impacts, and temperature wasn't an issue. Either the glass was flawed or the installation was faulty and it put stress on the glass in a way that it eventually shattered on its own.
The car has less than 5,000 miles on it, and it hasn't ever received any sort of damage or impacts. By the time I took the picture, some of the shattered glass had fallen out, but it was pretty much intact when I found it. The complete shattering is typical of tempered glass when it's twisted or impacted from the side, but neither was possible with how the car was parked.
When I first took the car in, I was told that it's not part of the car's warranty. Right now I'm waiting on the dealership to work with Honda to see if they can do a "good will" repair. If not, it's going to cost me nearly $900 to get fixed.
This is obviously an issue with either the glass or the car itself. I do not feel like I should have to pay for this repair.
