traction control light, car in safe drive mode. loose plug?
I am completely flabbergasted about this problem. I have admittedly not had a love affair with this car for several reasons but it has been reliable, it has run well and I have only had it serviced by the dealer with 1 oil change exception over a year ago.
The light first came on when I was driving over Donner Summit in a snow storm, It did not change the way the car drove. It went off on its own and staid off for 6 weeks, It came back on only after road construction crews sprayed the street for dust control then It slowed to 5 MPH after driving it for .1/4 mile. I had it towed.
The dealers says the spark plug was not properly installed and the threads are stripped so the engine head has to be pulled, to have the cylinder machined so it can have a spark plug put back in? The spark plugs are supposed to last 100 thousand miles. Why would it have been touched? It makes no sense. The dealership is telling me it is going to cost me $2500 to have it fixed. pull the engine, machine the number 2 cylinder
They are also telling me the Extended Warranty I paid for will not cover it because it is considered negligence. Possibly the drive train warranty will cover it, they are going to check and see if this problem has come up with any other Hondas? WTF, I bought the first new car I have owned so I wasn't dealing with prior owner negligence. I bought a Honda because they have such a good reputation for running trouble free for hundreds of thousands of miles.
