6 months ago or so, I brought my car in because it was 'seizing'. They discovered that mice had eaten through the wires on my gas tank and that the gas tank had to be replaced. We decided, because I couldn't afford $800 at the time to just try to seal the wires with silicone. It worked for awhile. Started happening again after about 6 months. I need to bring the car back in and have the gas tank replaced to the tune of around $800.00. So now I will be into this repair for around $1000.00. I should have done it the first time. The car does run, but it is eating up gas etc.
I recently read online that car companies, to save money, are now treating the wiring in their cars with soy based products that mice like and that may be why this happened. Honda, is now selling a 'spicy rodent tape' for $36.00 for a 20-meter roll. I'm thinking of purchasing it to bring to my mechanic to use when putting in the new gas tank.
