Well I'm not sure if you are going to see what I wrote on the YouTube video. Basically I started having this problem with the car that has been happening with increased frequency when I first start the vehicle in EV mode--doesn't happen until I put the car in Drive. I will either be driving for a few minutes or barely any time at all, in EV mode, and then without any prompting from me, HV kicks in and stays in. I have had about 50% luck with it resetting after I turn off the vehicle for short or long periods of time but this will undoubtedly go on forever if I don't turn off the vehicle. Stopping at a red light or a stop sign or putting the vehicle in park doesn't help at all.
When this happens, the battery is either fully charged or well above 20%. Every time this has happened, I was not using any accessories...not even a phone plugged in, and the fan was not on at all. I also was not going up hill, in fact, often quite the opposite. We try not to deplete the battery, so it's not like the car should be thinking that it is going to need to conserve battery ever.
Honda "can't" do anything because of course the problem can't be duplicated on command, and there aren't any codes or recalls that tell them what they should do. PLEASE DO SOMETHING!! At the very least, let me trade it in for another one exactly the same....I would hope that not every Clarity Plug-In Hybrid has this problem! Although this is one among many little bugs that we've run across with this vehicle...will be adding a few more complaints!
If anyone has any questions, I would be happy to edit or update this.
