I purchased this Honda Civic Hybrid in March 2009. In April 2010, when I went to the dealer to get an inspection sticker, The dealer would not pass the car due to he wear on the rear tires. The car had only 21,000. at the time. I asked then why a new car with 21, 000 miles on it would have tires so worn they couldn't pass it for inspection. It seems to me Honda has an issue with the alignment or they are putting inferior tires on their brand new cars. The dealer said they were not responsible for the tires under their warranty even though I purchased the extended warranty. I then took the car to a garage who passed the state inspection.
I August 2010 I took the car to the dealer I purchased the car from for an oil change and it was recommended I have the 30,000 mile check up. They then pointed out the tires wear and this time it was even more noticeable. I got the same response when I pointed out the fact that I had less than 29,000 and and have to buy new tires for it. The dealer was not going to stand by the issue of the poor tires or poor alignment. They asked me if I rotated my tires, and they should be rotated every time an oil change is done,. I pointed out to them "if that was true I only had the oil change done at the dealer so why didn't the dealer rotate the tires". They also said I must have hit a pot hole to get the wheels out of alignment, and that is not true. I did find on the Emunds web page that there has been a number of complaints about the alignment of the Honda Civic Hybrids and some people were reimbursed for this issue. So I know this is an issue with the car and the dealers are not steeping up.
How can I get the Honda dealers to listen and fix this issue?
