When the hybrid (IMA) battery fails, you're essentially stuck with just the tiny engine with no "assist" to turn it into a real car when you need to get up a hill or up to speed on a highway quickly so this can be dangerous if not fixed or if it goes out unexpectedly. This was one of those "do I sell or repair" moments. Welp, I'm the dude in "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" who "chose poorly" and did the repair rather than sell the thing that continues to fall apart as we speak...

I never had any trouble with my Civic. The car was excellent on gas and ran smoothly, untill I had a flat tire. Took it in for repairs and the car would not start. The dealership advised me to change the upfront battery. I did and did not make it a block down the dealership. While driving along the car shut off and did left me in the middle of traffic. When it shuts down the steering wheel also locks. Life threatening. I had to tow car back to dealership. Next day they gave it back to me, and says they did not have any problems. On the way home car shuts off pulling out on the interstate again. Another tow. Took it back again and again. Five times I returned and they made me feel like I was crazy. The mechanic advised me that he disconnected the IMA and I should drive it just like a regular car. How silly did that sound? I was so upset to know that they suggested the problem was with me. I drove out of the parking lot onto oncoming traffic and it shuts down again. They finally give me a diagnostic to find out that it was the DC Converter. Wrong...That was not the problem. I am at my wits end with them and this car. I have not been able to drive my car for 6 months, yet make the payments religiously. This is ridiculus and cruel. I need help. I cannot afford to purchase another car and no one will take it on a trade. I am stuck and disgusted with Honda. I have always believed in Honda, but this is outrageous. All recalls are on every year, except mine. 2005..for IMA..any please help!!!!
