The contact was able to veer to the edge of the shoulder of the road, where the engine turned off independently. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with fuel pump failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V314000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). No further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.

The contact called another local dealer, Larry Hopkins (1048 W El Camino Real, Sunnyvale, CA 94087); but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.
