The AC system on the 2019 Honda Civic has a known issue with the freon causing leak, damaging the compressor, condenser and evaporator core. We had this issue on my wife 2019 Honda Civic Sport Hatchback that is not under warranty anymore (about to be 4 years) and has about 40,000 miles on it. On a random hot summer Sunday, the AC stopped blowing cold air and we received a letter a month prior about an extended warranty on some AC components from Honda. So we took it into the dealership to be looked at and the determination was that the evaporator is bad along with the freon being low.
Honda is currently only covering the condenser and compressor but it took some class action lawsuit for them to finally cover those part. The evaporator is not currently covered under the extended warranty so I was told to open a Goodwill claim with Honda Corporate. I open a Goodwill claim with Honda Corporate and the case manager that was assigned to me was horrible. She never returned a phone call after leaving constant messages for her, she kept emailing the wrong person even though I give her the multi point inspection from the dealership with the Honda service rep email and direct phone number. After a month of the case manager not doing anything, I paid to change the evaporator core upfront because my wife needed her car for school and it was really hot during Los Angeles summer time. So I had to change my Goodwill claim to a reimbursement claim. After I inform the case manager that I paid upfront because she was not helpful at all and didn't communicate to the proper people for a month, she denied my Goodwill claim and reimbursement claim saying that Honda Corporate right now isn't covering the evaporator core. But she said to keep my receipts if Honda Corporate decide later on to extended the warranty on the evaporator core if enough people have the same issue or there a lawsuit,
