I recently got into a 2018 Civic hatch 1.5t with a manual transmission. First few days I noticed that there was a high pitched whine from the engine compartment. I turned everything off including the AC and the noise went away. Turned the AC back on and there was the noise again. It's is not constant and occurs between 1.5 to 3k rpm.
I recently took the car into the dealership to have them look at it. They came back and said that the whining noise from the ac compressor is normal and other NEW civic models on the lot had the same thing. I called Honda America and filed a complaint. After owning several cars and several Hondas this is the first time I have encountered this issue. It is Bull that Honda allows this to be normal...... Sorry but will not be buying another Honda if they keep putting out trash and calling it gold.
