The Honda dealer does not want to acknowledge the issue, the oil smells strongly like gasoline. My main concern is that the engine will stop running and the gasoline in the oil will ruin the engine parts, inevitably after the warranty expires. What to do?

Civic Hatchback LX 1.5t

  • CVT transmission
  • 300 miles

First oil change : total oil came out 4.3 qt.
Second oil change : total oil came out 4.7 qt Third oil change: total oil came out 4.8 qt.

All drained oil smelt gasoline fume badly.

Currently: doing monthly oil dip stick check and when it gets diluted above the allowed line on the dipstick, I change oil to protect the engine components.

This is a well known problem from China to Canada to US. SBT 18.137 was in place to address this issue. Although it wasn't a permanent fix, by reprogramming ECM and AC fan and oil change to expedite heating the engine when cold started, it doesn't actually fix the issue. it's not even a mediocre fix if anything.

Anyhow, I brought my car in to Honda dealer where i bought my car from, and they played dumb and tried to disengage the conversation. When I insisted on Service Bulletin number and whatever that can slow down the oil dilution, Honda dealer refused to work and told me that "you get extended warranty because of that. So if your engine gets permanently damaged down the road due to diluted engine oil, then we will fix it then under warranty."

Now the warranty extends just one more year/12,000 miles from 5/60,k miles. When I confirmed what I heard, the service advisor said they don't want to work on something that will not fix the Honda design and manufacture defect.
