I recently bought my wife a 2021 Civic EX straight from the dealership. I had my reservations, as I am a bigger fan of Toyota, but thought "It's Honda, they make decent vehicles", boy was I wrong. My wife test drove the vehicle and picked it right off the delivery truck so we had to wait a day or so before picking it up so it could go through inspection. She knows a bit more about cars and has rebuilt a few, so I trusted her instinct. I decided to drive it off the lot and take it home, which is roughly an hour away.
I noticed that CarPlay was disconnecting while driving after about 30 minutes down the road. I thought, maybe it just needed an authentic Apple cord. I switched cords and tried again, this time it happened almost immediately as I was driving. I thought maybe the motion of the car is interfering with the connection. I unhooked everything, hooked it all back up, and stabilized my phone. Still, CarPlay kept disconnecting.
Since I am not the daily driver of the vehicle, out of sight out of mind and my wife never mentioned it to me again, so I assumed she got it to work. Its now September, a full 2 months of having this vehicle and it still doesn't work. Finally, we took it into the dealership, because its under warranty and this is clearly not an "us" problem. Dealership says it works fine, mind you they plugged it in for about 5 seconds. Of course, it works fine right now, but once you begin driving it disconnects and you can not get it to connect again. They now want us to pay for diagnostic and claim nothing is wrong so they will not "fix" it! I am stuck with this tin box for its lifetime and paying a pretty penny for it. I can not find any one else with this issue yet.
