If a car stops in front of you and you have to brake hard (to evade hitting it), the car stalls for what seems like an eternity (but it might really be 5 to 10 seconds). Very scary when it happens at an intersection.

If I slam on the brakes (which happens every once in a while) the car will almost stall. It’s terrifying especially in town. I can get the car to accelerate for a little while, this is completely unsafe for obvious reasons especially on the freeway.

While reversing from driveway to the street the car stalled and car was virtually dead. I was lucky other cars didn't hit my car. One good Samaritan pushed the car on my driveway. I put the car in P and restarted the car. I went to dealership on Monday morning (7/25/16). Dealer reversed the car and said it didn't stall. Comeback if it stalls again. I called Honda USA and they opened a case and told me to go back if it happens again. It is a serious safety problem. If the car stalls on the highway we will be dead or will have serious injury.

stalls while driving

I purchased this Honda Civic 2016 on July 2, 2016. Today while my daughter was driving it back home from school at an intersection while making a turn the engine made some noise and stopped. The car went from 15 mph to 6 and to 0. My daughter was able to pull the car to the side. I am very angry that the dealer sold us this car now that I find out there was a stop sell on the Honda Civic 2016 2.0. This was very unsafe and dangerous. We are lucky because she could have been on the highway. I have no idea what to do and I am furious at the Honda dealership that sold us this car. I want to return the car to them get my money back. I will never drive this car or let any member of my family drive it.

This has only happened to me once, but it is concerning, so I may be on here again if it keeps on happening. While backing out of my garage this morning the engine died. Radio and other accessory features remained working but the car stopped moving. There was a beeping noise prior to the engine cutting out, which I am sure is related. Stay tuned!

Engine has "stalled" while driving on multiple occasions. This typically happens after a rapid deceleration from speed, not necessarily to a complete stop, and attempting to speed up again. I depress the accelerator pedal and NOTHING happens. If I let off and depress it again the car lunges forward like I would expect it to. I've had it to the dealer twice and had no luck. They think I am complaining about the CVT transmission even though I have been very specific about not believing that is the problem. One service adviser told me if it didn't set a code there was nothing they could do. He also told me I had a 60,000 mile power train warranty AND IF there was actually something wrong with the car it would eventually "manifest itself". Seriously!?!?

I sold my first Honda (89 Civic, bought new) for Honda's denial there was a problem and refusal to fix it. My wife wants an Accord BUT, as of right now, she's NOT getting one. I will dump this car ASAP and will not be buying another Honda ever if they can't fix this. I have worked on my cars myself whenever I could and am quite knowledgeable about cars in general. I'm just hoping I don't get run over before I can get rid of it.

I am beside myself and do not know what to do. I put every penny I had into a supposedly dependable car for my son who is in college. This is the first and last Honda I will ever buy. Honda does NOT stand behind their product. DO NOT BUY A HONDA FOR YOUR LOVED ONE. The first week he had the car it died on him. The car had barely 300 miles on it. Died with No warning....just died. He was lucky enough to have gotten out of the way of traffic. He took the car to the local dealership who could not recreate the issue. They put him back in the car and sent him on his way. It has happen multiple times since this first time. Once he was going 75 MPH on the interstate and was lucky enough to be in the right lane...car died with no warning. Just shut off. The car has been taken to another dealership who could not recreate the issue. They put him back in the car and sent him on his way. It happened again this time we had it towed to the local Honda dealership who finally got it to recreate BUT INSTEAD OF KEEPING THE CAR THEY PUT HIM BACK IN THE UNSAFE CAR. They documented it happened to them nine times...then suddenly stopped happening. Put him back in the car and gave him the Honda tow number and told him to call them when it happened again. THE CAR IS NOT SAFE and his life is at risk. I have been on the phone with Honda corporation. They refuse to exchange the car. Instead they continue to put my son back on the road in this UNSAFE car. I was not asking for an upgrade or anything above and beyond what we have in the car. We have been putting our trust in Honda to do what is right....fix or replace but have had no luck. We are documenting and will start the lemon law as soon as possible. I pray he does not lose his life before we can get this settled.

Civic EX 2.0L

This car ALMOST killed us this morning.

We went to turn left onto a 4 lane highway with oncoming traffic and it started to roll but then nothing, floor it, nothing, pump the gas, nothing, would't go, we had to swerve right and off the road, cars were honking and slamming on their brakes not to hit us.

First and engine recall, then the sunroof broke, then the power windows broke, the Bluetooth STILL won't stay connected to our phones, and now this!

NEVER HONDA AGAIN!!!! FIX THIS POS!!!! A BRAND NEW car shouldn't die in the road and KILL you!!!!

Update from Oct 12, 2017: Update 10-12-17: After we had the "Parking Brake" recall performed on this car, most/all of the issues went away. They indicated to us that the recall included a full flash of the car's ECU. This has fixed the hesitation issue, and the parking brake issue. The windows haven't given us any more trouble.

It's been a very good car since we had that recall done. Thanks for fixing!

We just bought this 2016 Honda Civic about a month ago. My daughter was driving to school last week and it went dead in the middle of a intersection. She was very lucky that she didn't get hit from the side or rear by a tractor trailer. The dealership said that they were going to try to get it to do it again and it didn't . The car may not do it again for a while, but during that time they are putting my daughters life at risk and others too. This is a very dangerous.

When driving steering wheel becomes hard to turn. Within a mile car just turns off. Have to come to stop. Put car in park and restart car. The car then drives like nothing ever happened. Dealer says nothing wrong with car. This is a severe safety issue because the steering wheel is very hard to turn when the car's engine is off.
