The walk away lock feature intermittently stopped working. I would get several beeps instead of one when walking away, the car wouldn't lock in that case. Related: later the trunk started popping open too. When I'd press Start sometimes, sometimes when I touched the passenger door. The body control module was eventually replaced and that fixed the issues. One year later, and the problem is back.
I've been to the dealer 3 times for this same issue with no improvement. Here it is: the walk away auto lock feature on my 2016 Honda Civic EX-T doesn't work consistently. Between visits 2 and 3, I logged the occurrences of the malfunction: it was over 25 times in a 2 week period. But when I've taken it to the dealer, it apparently doesn't malfunction for them, and/or they can't detect any error codes when they investigate. So, they haven't done any repairs/adjustments. When the fob is in my pocket upon exiting and all doors are closed, normally it beeps once, then a 2nd time after a ca. 6' distance away from the car. That is normal. But ca. 20% of the time, I get several warning rapid beeps indicating the doors haven't locked. My DMV lemon laws state the defect needs to be "substantial" so don't know if this will qualify? Obviously, I could de-activate the feature and simply use the fob as I have with previous cars. But I did pay for this car and all it's features, and I expect them to function properly.
