Electric parking brake on my 2016 Honda Civic sedan will not engage. I bought the car brand new from Honda. There was a recall for this problem for over 350,000 models already but my car was not included. My electric parking brake stopped working in late 2017. I called Honda Civic already but they refused to fix it. I had one incident when I was in motion in the freeway; my car went from 65 mph to about 35-40 and skid and zig zagged; the car behind me almost hit me but was able to evade hitting me. After that I stopped using the brake altogether. Unable to use electric parking brake anymore as I am afraid the car will roll down when parked on hills.

I purchase this car in June of 2019; I had the car for approx 5 months. I told the Honda dealer mechanic that something was wrong with the brakes when I bought it. I brought it back in September. They claim they checked the brakes and everything was find. I had a maintenance check and an oil check. A month in half later I experience the problem with the brakes I was complaining about in September. On 11/14/19 I drove my car to a location no problems. I parked the car. When I went back to turn on the car that's when the brake lights came on saying electrical brake problem. I read they had a recall on the electrical brake system. I wonder did this car ever got fixed from the recall. Turned my car on and the brake system light begin flashing stating electric parking brake problem. The red light continued blinking. The car was in park when this happen. The car was stationary. I drove the car on with the warning lights still on.

When driving the car in certain situations the car will momentarily apply the brakes automatically rather hard for a period of a second or less. This occurs when on a highway and driving with the adaptive cruise control engaged and when passing a tractor trailer truck. It appears to happen only under certain situations such as sunlight angle and the color or reflection from the truck are interfering with the cars sensing brakes can also be automatically applied rather hard when exiting a highway ramp without using a turn signal. This can happen without the adaptive cruise control applied so I suspect it is related to the collision avoidance feature. I have owned this car since new and these events have occurred more then a dozen times. On a trip driving from Florida to Pennsylvania on rt 95 it happened about 5 times. Very frightening to have the brakes applied spontaneously at 70 miles/hr when passing a truck. I have asked about this during service at a Honda dealer and they reported everything was working properly.

The vehicle experienced an intermittent but sudden and complete loss of braking power while driving on the highway moving at around 40mph. In part due to the low speed, the vehicle was safely maneuvered off the road once braking power was regained. The car dealership was able pin the issue to an electrical circuit failure in the brake control unit (Honda error codes V300-49 and V3003-68) and recommended changing the vsa modulator unit. Regular scheduled maintenance done on the vehicle just a month prior to the incident at the same dealership indicated no observed issues with braking. Attached is the invoice of the vsa unit replacement work performed as recommended.

My emergency brake would not engage properly resulting in several incidents of the car 'rolling' away after engaging the E-brake. This happened for some time until I could not engage the E-brake at all unless continuously engaging the button and waiting up to 10 minutes and 20+ 'pulls' of the brake button. If I was able to, it would not stay on for good at all times, resulting in the car rolling away quite often. This was extremely scary and unsafe. When Honda said my VIN was not included in the 2016 Civic safety recall regarding the same issue, I decided to fix it out of pocket. However, this recall should be extended to other vins because it is the same problem and may happen again regardless of my dealership fixing it on this occasion. I thought by law, recalls happened by year, make, and model, not necessarily by the specific VIN #S affected (in the past when I was contacted about a safety recall for a different car company, I was told VIN didn't matter, only year, make, and model). I am extremely disappointed in Honda's handling of this situation as it can cause serious injury and death and I think it's only fair to reimburse those of us who have the same exact problem with the 2016 emergency breaks but have not been included in the recall. Honda did tell me that if enough people reported the problem, they might extend the VIN range for the recall. This indicates to me that Honda knows it's problematic in most if not all the 2016 Civics. Thank you for your time.

I purchased a brand new 2016 Honda Civic in March 2016. Within the first 6-8 months I began having electrical brake problem issues and getting notifications regarding faulty brakes. I had to call Honda roadside assistance at least twice within the first year of owning the vehicle due to the faulty brakes and being stranded. Then came the electrical issues. I would lock the car and all windows would be up when leaving the car but I'd return to all windows down and the sunroof open! this happened twice within the first two years of owning the car! last but certainly not least is the battery issue. The battery won't last 10 months without issues! if you try to charge your car in accessory mode, the car battery will die and you will need a jump. I had aaa and used up all but one of my calls up on the battery issues this car has. My car insurance has roadside assistance and I had so many calls to get jumped because of this battery that I was told in June that my roadside assistance was revoked for a year!

While driving my vehicle the brakes slide (vibrate a little) this doesn't always occur but when it does it is obviously felt while using the brake pedal during driving. There is also a noise when I initially start my vehicle, I noticed the only warning light is the brake light alert.

While driving my 2016 Honda ex-T dashboard lights started lighting up -emmision, eps, brake hold, etc the car immediately went into" limp mode" while traveling at 70 on the highway. I am told this caused a turbo problem and the turbo will have to be replaced. While researching on the internet this seems to be a common and reoccurring problem that is not being addressed. Since it is a common problem it seems with out Honda addressing the problem this will occur again with a new turbo. I am unsure if the multiple warning lights for problems that did not exist caused the turbo problems but it seems likely. Since when these lights come on the car is designed to go into limp mode. This needs to be addressed. Luckily I am an experienced driver and was able to handle the automatic drastic decline with out breaking while driving and coming to an almost complete stop. Had the highway been busy this certainly would of resulted in an accident.

When I pulled into my driveway last night after work, my car dash lit up with alerts, one after another. I tried turning the vehicle off and on, and the lights did not go away. They are still on today. They were emissions system problem, brake system problem, brake hold system problem, power steering system (eps) problem, vehicle stability assist (vsa) problem, and hill start assist problem. I took a video of the alerts. I will try to upload a picture.

The rear brakes are showing grooved rotors. Also the back brakes are wearing quicker that the fronts. 7mmf. 5mmr. The mileage is 32000. I have a second car exactly the same except color. It has 16000 miles and the same problem is starting on it also. I believe Honda is covering this up. They wouldn't investigate because I didn't have an ro number. I brought it back in to be checked and they wouldn't put "check rear brakes" on the ro. They said they always check the rear brakes and if there is no noise there is no problem. I was a licensed inspector years ago. I would never have passed a car with these rotors. See pics. Perhaps it is from the parking brake recall? the rotors must have lost their temper from the brakes being applied by the parking brake problem.

The contact owns a 2016 Honda Civic. While driving highway speeds, the vehicle jerked and hesitated. Occasionally, while operating the vehicle, multiple warning indicators illuminated, indicating failures with the braking system, steering, and stability control. When the vehicle was turned off and restarted, it operated normally. The failures were not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer (apple Honda 1, 801 whiteford rd, york, pa) were notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 45,000.
