2017 HONDA CIVIC. At 35000 miles the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) light came on. I took it to the dealer for an oil change and rotation, ask them to reset it. 2 days later it came on again. Took it back 2 weeks later, reset, it came on again, took it back again, I was told my Wife was using an aftermarket phone cord while charging her phone and that set if off! Huh? So, no phone charger this week and it came on again. Very disappointing for a Honda! ( I should have bought a Dodge Neon!)
Fed up, I call Honda Corporate and they gave me a case number and called me back 3 days later. They said I needed new tires, wait, 55,000 mile Michelin tires need to be replaced in 35,000 miles? ( 3/4 of the tread is still there!) They did offer to pay for half. But the dealer price is way more than my local tire shop! That is NOT the fix! Not sure what to do next? I will have to "update" later.
Update from Nov 22, 2017: OK, it has been 2 weeks. After more "internet research" I found a software upgrade from Honda. TSB #14-006
I called the local service manager and told him about the upgrade. He took the car in right away for one more fix. The car has been driven for 2 weeks, around town, sustained highway speeds, over a mountain pass, and no warning light! This software upgrade seems to have fixed the problem.
My local guys did not know of that upgrade, so write it down, tell your guy TSB #14-006 Hope this helps you!
