So my 2013 Civic was just out of the comprehensive 3-year warranty when a single click could be heard from the rear wheels every time the brake was applied. Also when making a hard left turn at low speeds there was rubbing noise coming from the front wheels.
Took it to the dealer telling them about the suspected brake problems. Mechanic took me for a ride and convinced me that this has nothing to do with brakes: it's the sway bars, silly! Had the sway bars changed for ~$600, rear noise went away for a week but came back. Went back to the stealer and another mechanic tells me there's a problem with my.... brakes! Duh! Had all 4 brake rotors machined for another ~$200. Noise went away for about 3 months, then it came back again.
This time I won't go back to the dealer. I'll be using my general mechanic. It's clear to me that Honda doesn't know how to make brakes for their Civic, and that their dealer doesn't know how to fix brakes on Civics. Great team, these folks. Have been in business for how many years now? And still don't know about car brakes (rocket science, for sure)...
