doesn't shift right from 2nd to 3rd at low speeds
I've noticed since at least the beginning of the year I was having intermittent issues when my car shifted at low speeds. The best way I can describe the complaint is that it's like when you're driving a car with a manual transmission and you shift too soon--the car sort of stutters and jerks for a second. It only happens if you're not accelerating quickly, so if you have a "lead foot" you'd probably never notice it.
My boyfriend has been making a big deal about it not being normal and took time this weekend with my dad (a Ford mechanic) to drive around and try to replicate the problem. My dad's explanation of the problem which I am supposed to research and then take in to Honda: there is a hard shift between 2nd and 3rd gear when not accelerating quickly at 19 MPH. Transmission fluid smells burnt. The complaint can be replicated uphill but not downhill.
So yay for my "reliable" Honda having transmission problems at 70k miles. Who knows how much it will cost to fix or how long I will be without a car. I never had problems this bad with the Fords I have owned and I'm really regretting my decision to get a fuel-efficient car for commuting. I'm pretty sure between this and how quickly this car goes through breaks I'm spending way more than what it would have cost me in gas to keep my Ford.
