This is scary to me. I always trusted Honda quality but this is terrible. When the engine is cold, below half on the gauge, the engine would suddenly rev up to around 1500-2000rpm when put in gear. First time i did not expect it and the car took off down the driveway!! With the "wonderful" brakes (see other post) it scared me as my 16 yr old will be driving this car! It seems to hold around that RPM even coming up to a stop light or sign which leads me to believe this might be one of the reasons why the brakes on these models wear prematurely. The car still wants to pull when you want to stop. I have cleaned the fuel system and filters with now success. Also cleaned throttlebody. Next step is to try the cold idle valve (i think its called...). The car is also bad on gas IMO as i get around 350km on a tank of gas, but i have to say the car very seldom warms up completely. We live in a small town and the car only does 5km per trip. And yes, it is in Alberta, Canada so it is cold for the car. The problem seems to disappear when warm. I do understand the need to increase RPM when cold but this is very unrefined and creates anxiety when the car seems to fight you when in gear.
