Bought a used a 2009 Honda Civic from an Albany,NY dealer in Nov. 2011 with 57400 miles on the odometer. Since owning this car I have experienced 5 episodes of dangerous sudden and unexpected acceleration when applying the brake. It has happened at slow speeds, such as entering my garage, entering a parking space in a supermarket, at a stop sign, at a crosswalk. Most recently, October 1, 2013, I was exiting the PO, turning right into slow moving traffic, stepped on the brake and hit the car in front. The brake was pressed as hard at it could be and the engine was raging. The odometer reading is not 60,203, so you see that I do not do a lot of long distance driving. At each occurrence I contacted the dealer, the car was checked over and I was told "there is no major issued found." If they cannot duplicate the event, it obviously never happened. It was suggested it was probably my driving habits. My driving record is excellent. I am fed up with Honda and its dealers. How can they inn good conscience permit a car this dangerous to drive on the roads.
