The passenger side visor broke about a year ago. I took it off, then glued and clamped it together with two screws and nuts and reinstalled it to avoid the expense of a new one. Now the driver side visor falls apart. TIME TO REPLACE BOTH.

sun visor broken

This is the second time the visor has broken, same thing everyone is complaining about and that Honda has known about for years. Second visor was a Honda part, as that is all that would work. Now to fix it is over double - a new visor is $200. Seriously? And no guarantee it won't do it again. I called the dealer and they said I'm out of extended warranty but they'll take a look at it. I'll go there, that way I can complain loudly about a known defective part if they won't fix or replace it for free. I'll update when I find out if Ralph Schomp Honda in Denver will cover this known defective part.

The visor comes apart in the middle and bulges out. This makes it where it won't stay up either pushing it forward or backward. It's a safety hazard because it impedes vision for a taller driver (my husband) who can't get the visor out of the way. I replaced it the first time because I didn't know there was a class action suit against Honda for making a defective part that keeps breaking. Now it's done it again, which is the subject of the next complaint

I own a 2009 4 door Honda Civic. I bought it in December 2009. Among some other problems, including the airbags, in 2012 the driver side sun visor developed a crack and then felt apart. I took it to Honda dealer and they replaced it free of charge, but now the same replacement have developed the same identical crack and the metal parts are coming apart in the back of the visor.

I called Honda and they said that it is now my responsibility and have to replace it at my own expense. This does not seem fair to me because the problem is in the manufacturing of the visor and if I have to spend almost $200 to replace it, there is no guarantee that the same issue does not come up again, because Honda has failed to address the real issue of the workmanship of their visors.

My car’s VIN number is 2HGFA16569H319915

Sincerely yours,

Aziz Ansary

I just spoke with the Honda people and they claim my car it's not part of the visor recall, but my visor is broken. I have to use a big clip to keep it together and able to close it. This is complete bullshit. Why would I have to pay to fix something that they manufactured defectively!!!

I JUST BOUGHT THE CAR LAST SUMMER AND ITS THE FIRST TIME THE PASSENGER SUN VISOR WAS USED AND NOW IT WON'T STAY UP AND ITS VERY ANNOYING. I DON'T KNOW WHY THE PREVIOUS OWNER DID NOT GET IT FIXED SINCE SHE WAS THE ORIGINAL OWNER BUT THE VISOR IS SPLIT. I WAS TOLD BY HONDA IT WOULD COST ME ABOUT $180 TO FIX. THE CAR HAS OVER 200,000 MILES ON IT AND RUNS WELL FOR THE MILEAGE ON IT.

The Passenger side visor no longer stays in place and just hangs loose obscuring vision from the passenger side front and side windows. It could be a hazard risk while changing lanes besides being a real nuisance for passengers seated to have to hold the visor away from their face and their outside view.

I see a class action lawsuit was successful but claims on it are no longer being processed now even though my mileage is well under 100k on my 2009 Civic. Honda should stand behind this and the warranty should be extended for new owners as this is a very popular car in the resale market.

Prior to this the driver side visor was replaced at my cost around the 87k mile mark. So this visor problem has been a known issue for a long time yet there seems to be nothing one can do about it except keep replacing it with OEM parts at owners expense. Totally ridiculous for something that was a day one problem.

Civic LX-S In-Line 4-Cylinder

Plastic on driver's side sun visor has separated, resulting in failure to be able to properly re-stow it after use. Struggled for some time with waiting to re-stow until I could use both hands - one to hold the broken area together while the other turned it into place - but have now resorted to the binder clip trick.

My junior high teacher's husband in Tokyo, worked for the Honda Tech. Center in West Tokyo, so I tried Honda.

The First driver side sun visor split at the joint led to the sagging - no control and obscure vision, then a month and a half later the Passenger side did the same thing.

I kept this car under the covered parking or inside the garage at home and I work on night shifts, so I hardly drove the day time in North Texas and Southern Nevada.

It seems like this problem accelerated by the warm climate.

It is such as disappointment Canadian built model causes this kind problem.

This will be the 2nd visor I have had to replace within a couple of years. The visor doesn't stay up once it separates and effects my vision of the road, so I have to get it replaced. I was never advised this was a problem or I would have gotten a different visor to replace it, causing me to lose time off work as well as the expense.

This is the third driver sun visor that had broken on me at the hinge point and won't stay up any longer. The first two were replaced: one by the dealer and the other by Honda Corp. Now for this one they are only covering 50% of the cost which equals about $50. From what I found on the internet, there was a settlement for this issue before but it doesn't mention reoccurring problems from replacement parts. Also, a brand new OEM sun visor for my vehicle is roughly $55 so Honda basically wants me to pay their labor which includes two screws.

WHEN A RECALL CAME OUT DRIVER VISOR WAS CRACKED, TOOK IT IN FOR RECALL. ASKED THEM TO FIX THE OTHER ONE TOO. BECAUSE IN MY FIRST HONDA THE FIXED BOTH AT THE SAME TIME. WAS TOLD THEY COULDN'T FIX IT. NOW I AM OUT OF WARRANTY AND VISOR CRACKED AND CAME COMPLETELY OFF. THANK YOU FOR READING MY COMPLAINT ALTHOUGH I'M SURE THERE WILL BE NO RESOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM.

Have a broken driver side sun visor. When I go on line to Honda to order a new one, it says "backordered' and 'not for sale" -- looks like only solution is to follow others in drilling two holes in the visor to make it work!! Honda should offer these FREE to anyone who wants to repair a problem they created!!
