I first noticed the problem with the radio buttons, specific #5, a gentle press no longer changed the station. This now turns into a battle of multiple pointer assaults in order to change the station. A few months later I noticed this progressed to the rotary volume control, it skips levels, with careful finesse (slight pressure to one side and slow turning) you can feel it skip an internal notch, as you watch it jump between 2-6 levels, sometimes to zero or 10 without finesse.
This problem has extended its self to the AC temperature control, which I pretty much leave at max, clearly not related to overuse. I point the finger at cheap switches. I've been tempted to spray some contact cleaner on them, but removing the entire dash just to do that seems like I'd be better off paying a few hundred to have the switches replaced. Also I have visions of the car bursting into flames, not a bad alternative given the number of problems I'm starting to experience. I've owned nothing but Honda Civics and after 6 years and 120,000 miles they seem to just fall apart. On that note, I drive them hard, but I'm not a button maniac! Ok maybe #5 has it's day coming.
