Traded in a 1998 Honda Civic LX - unremarkable and body a bit beat up, but everything WORKED on it! Have had this car a week -just drove it in evening conditions today for the first time - 200 miles on the odometer. Never had daytime running lights before, so okay, kinda like the dash lit up.. So I turn on the low beam lights and expected to notice brighter headlights (no), but the only noticeable thing that did happen was that the dash lights dimmed greatly. Tried high beams- same thing, maybe a bit worse. Is this a permanent condition?! Very distracting and strikes me as unsafe and an engineering problem. From what I've read, dimming lights have been a problem in recent civic models (I saw comment on 2008) but no one mentioned the dash lights staying dim continually. Why aren't they controlled separately like they used to be?! I can't wait to uncover the other 'improvements'. My first clue was the very unhelpful owners manual.

Also miss (all these were on the 1998 civic lx): 60-40 split rear seat; rear mid seat arm rest; no pocket behind front passenger seat; trunk significantly smaller with angles and obstructions that really limit carrying capacity (my gauge is 2 large bales of peat which would fit easily in the trunk of the 1998); fuses were in a crappy position in 1998, but now you'd have to be a contortionist to get to them (look left ankle high on drivers side). Also, HATE the expensive ($180) 3.75" long, bulky key. It seems you can no longer lock the doors before you exit the car, which was my habit...
