Press the cruise button, the dash light comes on, let go of the button and the cruise turns off! But if you hold the cruise button down and press set, it works until you stop pressing the cruise button! I use cruise A LOT! This is a pain. Not looking forward to hefty repair cost to fix what I suspect is a faulty switch. Come On Honda!
Update from Sep 13, 2015: After looking around the internet and seeing solutions ranging from cutting a penny and "wedging it" between the button to "super gluing" the cruise button down, the best, and easiest solution I read was to simply cut business card along the width, fold it and then push it in next to the button. This will hold the cruise button down (no allowing it to pop up). The dashboard Cruise Main light stays on, it everything works as normal. A lot cheaper than the $140 repair. If you cut trim the business card short enough, you can hardly see it next to the button. I suppose you could fold a Dollar bill and do the same thing and pocket the other $139.
My car's Cruise Control button will not remain engaged. I have ignored it for a while and now getting around to getting it fixed. The Cruise light momentarily illuminates when I press the button and extinguishes when I release it. Normally the light should remain illuminated when it works properly. I noticed that if I keep holding the button and then set the speed, it will work as long as I keep holding the cruise button. I am looking at fixing this myself so I don't know if I will be able to update this later.
My daughters 2009 Honda civic is 3.5 years old and has a 23,000 miles. The cruise control main button will not stay engaged. It worked two days earlier when she drove to Texas, but did not work on her return trip. The fact that she may have used this button 15 times in 3.5 years begs the question as to why it is not working. There are so many items connected to this cruise control, brakes, acceleration, lights, gears to name a few. There is one fuse and the rest would have to be determined by a computer diagnostic check. I have owned many Honda's for up to 6 years at a time and have never had this happen. There is no recall and this particular car has had to have the visors replaced and Honda did not send out a recall on that either.
Anyone having the same issue with the main cruise control button?
