The contact owns a 2009 Honda Civic. The contact stated that the exterior rubber and clips on the front windshield were deteriorating and exposed. The vehicle was taken to Honda of pasadena (1965 E foothill blvd, pasadena, ca 91107, (626) 773-8774), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 65,000.
Driving into the sun and attempted to adjust visor it just dropped to hang in front of the drivers face blocking vision driver then forced to drive holding visor out way.
Takata recall was repaired 2017. Paint peeling more than Honda recall areas. Honda refuses to repaint. 8/2017 9/2017 in motion : driver side sun visor is broken and drops down and blocks my view out of the front window. I can not afford to replace.
I have owned my 2009 Honda Civic since July, 29th 2009, I have noticed multiple times that the body frame between the front windshield and the driverside window completely obstructs my view of things including pedestrians and vehicles, this is when I am directly looking. I feel the blind spot size is beyond dangerous and unacceptable, I have almost hit people numerous times because they are in just the right spot to be blocked of view this includes an entire vehicle!! I feel that every single one of these bodies styles should be recalled before someone is killed. I notice this every single time I make a left hand turn I have to move my head to each side of it to make sure there is no one or no object there.
Wiper blades don't park themselves and sometimes stop in middle of wind shield and inhibit visibility. Sometimes wipers will turn off once turned on. Have a mind of their own.
The driver side sun visor split and now hangs down obstructing my view. This is a know issue with 2009 and earlier Civics; however, my VIN is not included in the extended warranty as a result of the class action suit.
In 2011, my driver side visor cracked/split and was hanging halfway, affecting my view. I took it to the Honda dealership, and they replaced at no charge October 24 2011. Not even a week ago, the same thing happened to the new driver side visor. I called Honda, took it to them today (08/15/2013). They wanted to charge me 95 dollars!!!! really"!!! there is obviously something wrong with these visors. I have done my research and plenty of people are complaining about the same thing. I called the Honda corporate office and they said there was nothing that they could do. The visor I got replace only had a 12,000 mile or one year warranty. That is ridiculous. These visors are obviously made with cheap plastic that is not made to last. So I have to spend almost 100 dollars every year and a half in order to be able to see while I am driving" there needs to be a recall and they should replace all visors at their cost. Maybe it might force them to provide visors that are safe and will last. I am going to look online also to see if there are any petitions. Please make Honda have a recall on these visors so we can all see while driving without having to spend an extra 100 dollars every year or two. It is not the consumers fault.
I was driving down the road at approximately 35 miles per hour in town when the driver side sun visor fell in my view. It would not stay up. It split into two pieces that would not go back together. I went to the Honda dealership to get 2 new rear tires because the car keeps eating up the rear tires for some strange reason. I asked the dealership about this visor and a possible recall at that time in November. The dealership told me my VIN number was not included in the recall and they couldn't repair my defective visor for free. The dealership told me my right front seal was bad, front brakes were bad, and my right rear shock was bad and that it would be about 1000 to fix everything.
The sun visors on the car are built poorly and the plastic will split, causing the sun visor to fail. After failure, the sun visor will not return to the folded position, obstructing the driver's view as it sticks out into the car, reducing visibility. Both american Honda as well as local Honda dealerships acknowledge this flaw in the vehicles but they are currently resisting my attempts to have my car's sun visors replaced for free due to design flaw. They claim that my car is out of warranty and that the lawsuit filed against american Honda last year has an extended warranty but it does not cover my car's VIN number. This problem needs to be fixed as it is reoccurring and potentially dangerous if the vehicle is in motion. Honda acknowledges that not all owners who have this issue report the problem and that it is widespread but no recall has been placed because they are often just fixed on a case by case problem but even replacements often fail as no change to the product's faulty design has been made.
