Just had to put a 3rd set of tires on my '08 Civic at 60,000 km. Noise in rear and thumping gets so bad that tires need replacing after 30,000 km - Dealer claims car is perfect and that Bridgestone tires (2 sets so far) are to blame. Have now tried a new brand with a higher tirewear rating.

Judging by the number of similar complaints in the "Suspension Problems" and "Wheels/Hubs" (all these complaints are actually the same issue) Honda has a problem car here and are leaving the owners to fend for themselves. After a long run of problem free Hondas this will likely be my last if Honda doesn't do the honorable thing and accept responsibility for the quality of their product.

If you have a similar problem, don't just keep buying tires - log in, be heard and be counted.

I bought a Honda Civic beleving that it had superior reliabilty and would be good on gas and low matience. Boy was I wrong. Any savings from the good gas milage has been lost by having to replace the tires every 15,000 miles. I have never had a car eat up tires like this. Once I reserached this problme on the net I realized that it was not just me. I got the same BS from the dealership. Your not rotating your tires enough and you need two new tires and an alignment. Of course they will not admitt that it is their design flaw that is causing the problme and everybody from the GM of the dealership to hondas corporate office tells me the same thing. "Your sh*t out of luck and we will not pay for the crappy engineering that we knew about several years ago."

I am know a little over 30,000 miles and guess what? I had to buy two new tires for the rear. I guess I will just buy 2 tires every 15,000 miles and sell this horribly designed car as soon as I pay it off. Thanks Honda for the royal treatment. I just wish I would have got a kiss to go along with the screwing.

My car was jumping all over the place. If i tried going over 55mph my car would start to jump and the tail end started to sway, and this was on a trip to niagra falls! when we got there we immediately found a goodyear station and they told us we needed new tires, and fast. turns out the jumping around was from the rear end camber being off, and we needed an alignment badly. our tires were shot, and one was already losing air. As they wanted 150 bucks per tire we got only the one that was losing air replaced. Jumping of car remained. We drove from Niagra falls to NYC for more sight seeing, the whole way there going about 50 mph due to the tire problem. When we got out of NYC we found the first walmart super center and got the remaining tires replaced. the photos are from outside the super walmart. When we got home some 2k miles later we went to the dealer. Apparently the problem is known and they even have a service bullitin out about it! it seems the rear upper control arms are too short and they need to put longer ones on or something, and thats why the tire wears this way, the camber is off. Mine were replaced for free and alignment done. I'm astonished to find that many people are having problems with having to pay for this work. I am quite upset that i have had 4 new tires already at 21k miles, and even my new ones have over 2k miles on them with this problem still existing. I'm going to try to get honda to pay for new tires, but after reading the other problems ppl have had even getting the problem fixed, i'm not getting my hopes up.

I have a 2008 Honda Civic and have owned 3 Honda's in the last 10 years with no problems... until now. My back tires are making so much road noise. I went to the dealer and they are blaming it on me saying that I have not been rotating my tires every 3,000 after I told them that I have them rotated every 5,000 miles. They said that there could be no other problem with my car, blaming it on me for lack of rotation. I found several similar complaints online which made me even more mad. They refuse to help me and I can't believe that they or the tire company are not living up to the warranty. I don't think that anything will come of it but I'm going to make a complaint to the better business bureau online. Now knowing that they have had this problem for the last two years, it is an obvious defect in the car itself. I called the 800 Honda number and they backed up what the dealership was saying letting me know that there was nothing that they could do for me.

Honda is playing dumb to this common problem with the cambers. At this point, I am faxing all of my maintenance records to the service department in the hopes that they will not charge or at least pay a % of the cost ($350 for 2 tires). The 2006- 2007 models had the same problem but I guess they never adjusted it correctly. A reliable auto repair shop owner suggested that from this point on I carry something heavy in the truck to weigh the back down. This may help extend time between new tires again. Fingers crossed that my lease ends prior to that!
