Paint is coming off on the drivers side back fender and door. It is just flaking off down to the primer. I have a grey spot the size of a grapefruit right now and it is getting bigger. The spot on the door is the size of a quarter and getting bigger. I am in the market for a new car and will not even consider another Honda due to this problem and we are a Honda family or were.

The paint on the roof of my 2008 Civic is coming off in patches. It looks like someone scrubbed it with steel wool.

I contacted a Honda dealership and they told me the only paint recall for my car would be for the cracking clearcoat - looks like spider webs on the very front of the car...Of course, my car does not have this problem. I have seen other cars like mine with this same problem. I just want my paint fixed!

I have taken great care of this car, washing and waxing it so that it would always look great. Suddenly the paint starts to look like it has a glaze on it and then it turns white, finally flaking away. This is either cheap paint or was applied incorrectly. Now Honda wants to split the cost 50/50 to have it repaired at their shop. This is not my fault or problem. I want them to fix this.

I noticed the paint fading and pealing on the roof above the rear window and another spot on the front of the roof near the top of the windshield. I went to the dealership (Ed Morse Honda, Riviera Beach, Fl.) and the Service Manager took pictures and was going to send them to the regional representative for Honda. He never called back and when I called the dealership I found out that he was no longer there and left a message for the new service manager, Alex Sanchez who never returned my call(s). First I feel that Ed Morse Honda has been a good dealership to work with, especially on service. There is no excuse for not returning a customers call. I will no longer go there for service or buy another car from Ed Morse. Amazing what a Service Manager that does not provide service can do to your business. All I wanted to know was this a problem or just my car and what Honda may do to help and the first service manager was going to find that out. Now that I have done some research, I see that this is a big Honda problem and not just my car. I then decided to file a complaint. Has anyone gotten a positive response from Honda or is this a class action?

I think that it is despicable that Honda is failing to take car of the growing number of paint issue for Honda Civics & Accords. I paid $18K for a vehicle that now will cost me $6K to repaint. A 4 year old car should not have paint issues. Paint jobs are to last the life of the car (except if in accident). I can't believe that they are just sticking us all with the bills! I will NEVER buy another Honda and I will advise everyone I know about the issues with Honda's and advise them not to buy one. Honda saving money by thinning the paint jobs/clear coat is not going to save them money in the long run, just think of all the people that will never deal with Honda again.

The roof and trunk paint is peeling off. The Pompano Honda dealer said that they never heard of this before although a web search comes up with thousands of people with the same problem. I contacted Honda NA and they said that they will only cover the black cars and so I am on my own. I really don't think that a car this new should be having such a bad paint problem. It is very disappointing that Honda does not stand behind their vehicles. If I ever do buy another new Honda, I am going to make them give me an extra $4000 off so I can have the car painted three years later.

What I would like to say is I thought I was the "Lone Ranger" with this problem until I started noticing it on more and more Civics. That tells me that must be a widespread problem and I can't understand why Honda won't fix it. I can understand my car is out of warranty, but I can't understand why the paint is chipping away when the car isn't even 4 yrs. old yet. I can remember Chevrolet had the same problem on their pickup trucks about 15 yrs. ago and they gave everybody a free paint job. My brother even got a free paint job and he was the second owner. I think Honda should own up to the problem and correct it free of charge no matter whether it is in warranty or out of warranty.

The paint on my 2008 Honda Civic has been deteriorating for over a year now. There are spots on the roof were it is down to primer, also starting on the trunk lid and side doors.

It makes me feel sick every time I look at my car.

The dealer doesn't want to do anything about it and neither does Honda.

I noticed the paint getting dull and now its starting to Chip off. Honda Needs to repaint my car, this is a big problem and very annoying and embarrassing. Please Help me!

I can't believe they paint a modern car with such crap paint! Only a few months out of warranty and the paint goes bad......I've taken very good care of this car and there is no reason why this should have happened in less than 4 years......I remember I was upset when the clearcoat went bad on my moms 1983 Civic....but it took 18 years!!! This is a very expensive thing to fix and it brings the value of a car I specifically bought because of it's resale value, way down. I am not happy about this......The worst thing is if I fix the roof and trunk, who knows how long it will be till the rest of the car is peeling!!

I have a serious problem with the paint on my 2008 Honda Civic, my 2010 Honda ATV sits in my garage unable to work, my 2006 Honda CBR600RR again sits in the garage, and my 2009 Honda power washer is totally unusable. Honda has done NOTHING but give me lip service. Did you know Honda does not even allow you to send them an e-mail outlining your problem? You can only report by phone during a very limited day and time. With over 50,000 people complaining about their Honda, how do you get through? How do you record events that have happened? Honda has taken a deliberate action to limit complaints that are noted in writing - how many companies today do that? HONDA is the only one that I know of. The best course of action for Honda owners is to direct their energy to the public to let them know of the problem and the TOTAL lack of response from Honda. I will NEVER buy another Honda even though I have owned a lot of quality products over the last 33 years. Honda's are great, as long as you do not have a problem - if you do have problem Honda basically tells you "tough shi*"!.

After owning the car for less than 12 months the painted plastic surfaces started losing paint exposing the black plastic under. Definitely an ugly sight. The dealer told me peeling paint is NOT covered under warranty and that I should avoid hitting stones with the front bumper (as if). After all we split the total repaint cost 50/50. I forked out over 200 beans just for the front bumper. Then the mirrors and rear bumper started. They ended up replacing the rest of the peeling surfaces with new part w/o charging me.

Terrible paint by Honda. Already flaking off in spots.Extremely notchy stick shift. Car needed a back window wiper but it is not offered for the Civic. Great deal of engine vibration in the cabin of the car. Windows rattle. Windows fog up and it is impossible to defog them without using the heater in the middle of the summer. Water comes in, no vents on the window moldings. Real rough ride on highway at speeds over 50 mph. Terrible comfort level. Cheap Car! I wouldn't buy another.
