Civic LX 2.0L

I have had the sun visor on both the driver and passenger side replaced three times under warranty. The problem has again cropped up and Honda has informed me that they will not replace the driver side sun visor for free (under warranty). I think Honda is a cheap car and I will never buy another one if they can't stand behind their product. HONDA'S STINK!!!!!!!

Visors were replaced as result of a legal settlement. Hondaproblems, illustrates the problem where the visors does not hold the position, trim cracks, and blocking sunlight is marginal. This is a second occurrence in my vehicle. My old Honda 1991 survived 240,000 miles without issues with visors. I am disappointed to read similar concerns from customers with high solar load.

http://www.hondaproblems.com/trends/civic-visor/

http://settlement-claims.com/visorsettlement/index.aspx

"As part of the settlement, which became effective on September 16th, 2011, Honda has agreed to:

Extend the warranty on sun visors on Class Vehicles to 7 years / 100,000 miles, whichever occurs first

Reimburse Class Members for out-of-pocket expenses incurred prior to the settlement date for the repair or replacement of their sun visors"

Two years ago, both Driver side and Passenger side Sun Visors broke. Through Honda's extended warranty, they were fix. Now, two years later the Driver side Sun Visor is broken again and Honda will not fix it for free. This is their problem due to faulty equipment. I am beyond disgusted having paid for a vehicle with faulty equipment that the company will not take accountability for.. I used to think Hondas were great vehicles. No anymore, this will be my last one. I look forward to selling it soon.

As in a photo submitted by someone, I am currently using a metal clip so it does not flop in my face. Why? THIS IS THE FOURTH VISOR TO BREAK! The other 3 were replaced under the extended warranty of 7 years, but now that has expired. I was very disappointed to see the replacements were matched by the same type of visor. My friend with an Element has cloth visors on a car two years older that have NEVER broken!

Civic EX

  • Manual transmission

I have owned my 2008 Honda Civic EX for 7 years. My sun visor broke/came apart at the seam a few years after purchasing the Civic. It was replaced by warranty. The replacement visor broke again several years ago and it was not warrantied - they would only replace it once so I paid out of pocket.

Today the visor is breaking again - I have a hard time believing it is not a defective part as there was a class action against Honda for the visor. It appears they suggested they would replace the part but it appears they didn't assume accountability. I have owned 4 civics and none of them have had this problem.

I know if I take it to the dealer they will say it is my problem to fix and will not be warrantied. I have been very satisfied with my Civics and have driven them for well plus 100 and 200K and then passed them along to my kids. But this years model has been a bit defective. I had to have my engine replaced under warranty and now this three times? where did the quality go I experienced with my past Civics?

Now that I park in the sun, the visors have worn, consistent with online reports of this issue. http://www.civicforums.com/forums/181-8th-9th-generation-civic/296797-sun-visor-split-open-2.html The passenger side visor fell when I tried to flap it down. I'm worried that the driver side may fail without handling, as has been reported.

Found out about the class action lawsuit. Call Honda dealer, they checked into it. Big surprise not covered. Told me it was 7yrs or 100,000 miles. I said its only 2015, their answer car was delivered May 2008. The only thing they'd do is give me a discount on the visor. Total bullshit.

Civic SI 4 cyl

The paint on the hood looks like its cracking all over the hood its really bad. The top of the car by the sun roof the pain is all coming off and fading. I paid an extra $400 to have a special coating put on the car. This car has been in storage a lot of the time with no sun on it at all. Also the sun visors both melted and broke the plastic on then they just kept falling down to where you could not see. They won't even go half way up. This really makes me made about the visors and the paint. My car looks like crap.
