Another problem know and ignored by Honda! They already had a new part built and modified for the problem, but they refuse to acknowledge their fault and they make you pay $$$$

The a/c blows cold air and suddenly starts blowing hot air. Sometimes works sometimes not...If the temperature outside is really hot it blows only hot air...It will not blow cold air! The compressor is working...

I bought my car used May of 2011 with only less than 33,000 on it. I had a year warranty from the dealer and a warranty on the transmission but the air stopped working a year after the warranty was up. Had 5 different mechanics look at it and unable to fix it. The 5th person said it was the compressor and condenser. So he replaced both and 1 month later the problem was back. But it started working again the next day so I let it go.

It's been 9 months since all that was replaced and my air went out again Friday. I have spent almost $2,000 on this air conditioner and my car only has 76,000 on it. Had 70,000 when they replaced the compressor and condenser. I spent lots of money trying to fix this piece of crap. Now it once again has to go back to shop for the 6th time. Honda should have this under warranty like the visor. I can't believe all the people that have the same problems I have had for 3 years now. I will never buy another Honda as long as I live! My Dodge Shadow that I owned years ago was much better than this piece of garbage. It's been 1 problem after another!

A/C stop blowing cold air in 2011 late summer. Since warranty had been expired, took to the local shop. They said compressor was out. They replaced the compressor, it seemed work. Then I was relocated to other city since I had a really good job offer, then fall came and A/C was rarely used.

The next year, I felt it wasn't working again. So, issue wasn't the compressor. I didn't want to spend too much money since my commute was less then 10 minutes. The last October we came to south Texas, now my commute is about 45-50 minutes. You can't survive with this A/C.

Took to Firestone, they said compressor, valve and drier. I told them we replaced the compressor about 3 years ago, I don't think it is an issue. They said yes it is. They charged the over $1700, but issue hasn't been resolved. I took my car 3 times every attempt was unsuccessful. I have been fighting with them, "I told you guys, issue is not with compressor, what you guys diagnosed was wrong, and costed me over $1700" I am getting about 20-22 temperature differential when cycle mode is off, getting close to 25-27 F differential when cycle mode is on.

This issue is very frustrating, I am going to get full refund from Firestone and I will sell this car in this coming Winter.

I went to a Honda dealer and he said he had the same thing happen to his 2010 Civic. He said it was close to a thousand dollars to repair. I asked why they don't have a recall and he just shrugged.

I took the vehicle to Honda dealership to have a/c checked because it was blowing warm air , I had a "free a/c check coupon ".. well they said the clutch relay was the problem ,115.00 to fix , we said "ok fix it ! . They replaced it and when that didn't fix the problem, they said "OHhh then its gotta be something else .. The condenser has a leak . and thats gonna be 745.00 ..What!!!! how can an 08 honda with less than 45000 miles have a leak??? Well from what I've been reading it seems to be avery common problem . I think these vehicles need to be recalled to fix this issue and for those poor people that have already fixed this problem they need to be reimbursed, If Honda doesn't do right by their buyers ,Im afraid I, like many of the very dissapointed and upset people on this forum, will not be purchasing a honda vehicle again.

RE: 2008 Honda Civic A/C does not blow cold.

We bought our 2008 Honda Civic new from the Honda dealer in Sept 2008. One year later, we started experiencing all the problems #1-6 listed above at carcomplaintsdotcom. We were told same info as #3 above. We were also told they would not cover it under warranty because we had driven too many kilometres in our first year of use.

Questions: 1. Are the original (defective) thermoswitch and compressor switch replaced by the same original (defective) parts or have they been replaced by non-defective parts? 2. Is there a 3 yr warranty on these replacement parts? A Honda service representative advised us not to pay because the replacement parts were also defective causing the same A/C problems again for the drivers and angry customers for the dealership!

The A/C system started blowing warm air at idle. That progressed to a warm/cold situation most of the time. The compressor and fan cut on for a few seconds and turn off for up to a minute before turning back on. I have checked the R134a level and it shows full and not overcharged. Occasionally, the system will work fine, cooling the car for long periods of driving time. I can cycle the temperature control knob and get the compressor/fan back on, but it usually only stays on for a few seconds. I have several persons I am acquainted with that own Honda Civics that are experiencing the same problem.

I had an air conditioning problem. I brought the car in for Honda to fix. They first started with replacing the defective thermoswitch. Once the thermoswitch was replaced, then Honda determined that the compressor clutch was defective and must be replaced. Of course then the freon had to be replaced. All of this cost $900 plus taxes. I cannot help but feel that the air conditioning unit failed before its time.

The a/c blows hot air at stop lights. Honda Service told me this was normal for this car. The compressor is suppose to shut down so that the car doesn't over heat. I made them check any way, because come to find out if the freon is to low or to high it will also cause this problem. They also pulled the computer program out for the A/C and installed a new one. After they supposedly fixed it. It was a little better but still hot. And this is Vegas.
