The contact owns a 2007 Honda Civic. While driving 70 mph the front left tire struck a piece of wood and ruptured the fuel tank. The contact inspected the vehicle and noticed that the vehicle was leaking gasoline. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer who stated that there was a hole in the fuel tank. The vehicle is currently being repaired at a cost of $640. The contact is in the process of contacting the manufacturer. The contact does not feel the repair will remedy the failure since the dealer is replacing the failed component with a plastic fuel tank without a guard to protect the fuel tank from road debris or recurring. The failure mileage was 54,000 and the current mileage was 54,010.
