I bought this car with a broken side motor mount. Researched the vibration and replacing the motor mount fixed the issue. Parts were purchased online for about $60 and it took 2 hours of labor @ $100 per hour.

I purchased my 2007 Honda Civic EX coupe in April 2007 and have been the sole owner since. Since I have purchased this vehicle, I have had the engine mount replaced 3 times. All within about 2-3 years of the previous repair. It appears that the engines are too heavy for the mounts.

Also, I have developed a cracked engine block which was found to be a major defect with Honda Civics 2006-2009. It appears that the water pumps used to cool the engine are not big or powerful enough to cool the entire engine, just a portion of it. So, after years of this happening, it is common for the engine to develop a crack. Again, American Honda knew about this issue, but did not inform consumers. Instead they chose to quietly extend the engine warranty by one year. Ridiculous and despicable.

Purchased 2007Honda civic with 57000 miles. Now at 75900, the right front motor mount is broken and I had it replaced. The car was vibrating. especially when starting. The sound was like driving a motorcycle, unable to hear the radio and the vibrations shook all the dash. I see many have the same issue. Honda should recall/repair/and refund all the people with this issue.

I replaced the original passenger side engine mount with a part from the local auto parts store, it lasted about 2 years. The third mount was installed with warrantied mount from same store, this one lasted a couple of weeks. Currently looking into what may be causing engine mount failures.

Once the cold weather set in, the car would vibrate quite heavily until you put it in gear or the engine warmed up. When off the gas in gear the car would continue to vibrate, but if popped into neutral the vibration would go away. The failed engine mount (mine was on the passenger side) could not absorb the excess vibrations created from the transmission engaging the engine.

Mechanic said this was a fairly common problem for civics. Part was $200+ from the dealership, although it can be found much cheaper online.

Good day. I bought my daughter a 2007 Honda Civic coupe LX believing it to be a very reliable car cause it's a Honda. Man was I wrong. I have driven other cars but this one beats them all. It feels like I'm driving a tractor. Honda dealer didn't find anything wrong with the car but I'm no mechanic and I figured it out just by browsing the internet. The right side motor mount is to be changed. I've tried buying the part from Honda and I was told they are Back-Order. This says it all. It is not normal that a motor mount fails. The engineering does not seem right. Very poor quality in my eyes. Read up on the forums and see how many Civic owners complain about this problem. Why does Honda not recall these 2007 Civics. I noticed vibration of the car when starting it for several months. Took it to the dealer, and they said nothing was wrong. I had them check the motor mounts, and they said they were fine. I searched online and found a suggested fix for motor mounts that were still intact, but had compressed over time, causing the bump stop on the engine bracket to touch the motor mount bracket, rendering the motor mount ineffective in isolating the engine vibrations from the frame.

The fix suggested placing washers between the engine bracket and the motor mount, to lift the bump stop up and separate it from the motor mount.

7 years and 55,000 miles is a very short time for motor mounts to fail...especially the number of failures the Civics have had!

I am the second owner of this car. It had 22, 000 miles on it when I bought it a year and a half ago. There was a recall that I had fixed last Christmas. Ever since then, my car would make a vibrating noise when I put the car in reverse. Only it wasn't consistent. I should have taken it in then because then all of a sudden my son pointed out I had a bad oil leak and took the car to the dealer for a diagnosis. ( I was out of town!) They said it was due to a broken side motor mount.

It has been repaired and I don't have the noise any longer. However, I am out $594. I always thought Honda's were supposed to be reliable. I could understand if the car had a lot of miles on it, but seriously, its not even half way used yet! I have put over 100,000 miles on several vehicles in my life. This is my first broken motor mount! Let's hope it is my last!

The problem began about a year ago (fall 2012), really annoying vibrating when engine running. In gear or not still there. Had all motor mounts replaced (aftermarket). Problem solved for a few months then it returned. I did a little research and discovered that the problem is the right side lower mount. Had it replaced again (aftermarket). One month later it failed again. Two days ago I replaced it again with a VERY EXPENSIVE (300.00) Honda OEM mount. So far no problem. The mounts are not designed correctly. This car should be recalled for this problem. I am 68 years old and drive like it. I put absolutly NO strain on this car. There is no good reason for these mounts to fail. My vehicle was taken in for an oil change and Honda stated that the dash reading displayed a B service requirement. They quoted me $200 for the initial cost of doing the inspection and I agreed - after all I like to take care of my vehicle and I had noticed that the car vibrated especially when I first started it and put it into Reverse and the brakes were soft. They found a number of issues (faulty tires, brake rotors etc. which I posted), and gave me a bill for $1443.00 (CND). Yes, you heard this right!! Anyways, they found that the MOTOR MOUNT had broken off and replaced it.

I have only had the car 2 years and have babied it and serviced it on a regular basis. I am VERY disappointed with the lack of quality. Honda appears to have a reputation that certainly is not warranted. I will never again purchase a Honda.

Purchased this vehicle 7/2010 with 58000 miles and the first time a got an oil change a month later, I noticed a constant vibrating on the right side of the vehicle. After checking the 5 mechanics including a Honda dealership, they stated the problem was a bad side engine mount. The part itself is roughly $74.29 as quoted via Napa online. The vibrating has definitely gotten significantly worse to the point that my right leg feels the vibrations after driving for awhile. The Honda dealership is charging me roughly $452.29 (263.29 part + 189 (labor). I don't know too much about cars but I was told by a friend/mechanic that although my vehicle has high mileage, The engine mount shouldn't wear that quickly, especially for a Honda. This is my third Honda and I am completely upset that it is unreliable.
