Purchased used at Car Max June 2016. Problem is the fly by wire accelerator. Being a manual 5 speed this setup is deadly since you can stall the car every time you drive it. The computer decides when you are wanting to accelerate, which is like the most stupid engineering I've ever encountered.
The computer has 3 different setting's that you have to be aware of or your going to stall it every time. When you startup like on a day that you don't need to clean snow or frost off your windows it responds instantly when you step on the accelerator. You get 2 miles down the road at a stop light and since it has warmed up it changes to the second setting that is a dead spot or timing problem with the FBW accelerator that is slow in responding like your not even connected to the engine. Being a manual what happens is there isn't enough RPMs to start moving so you stall it and roll out into the intersection and hope you don't get T boned or that dude behind you nails you from the back since he or she thinks your taking off, but your engine has quit!
The third setting is when you get off the freeway ramp and stop, this is the worst one of them all it has even more of a dead spot in the accelerator so you have to in this case and all the other dead spot problems you have to be looking at the tac to see it responding before letting out on the clutch. So, all this being said I've trained myself to be looking at the TAC when moving off in first gear instead of having my eyes looking out the windshield, talking about distracted driving! Two attempts to have this fixed came back with (it's working just fine) which is unacceptable and dangerous.
They shouldn't offer a manual trans when they started this computer controlled accelerator crap, if it was a auto trans it would be annoying but you wouldn't stall the engine, if like most people their thinking about getting to work, traffic, road conditions or lunch but I have to have my head buried in the instrument panel to see it the RPMs are there to drive the stupid car. I deal with it since I am retired and on a fixed income or I would have gotten rid of it a month after I bought to car. Buy the way CarMax sucks!!!
