The contact owns a 2007 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while driving, the vehicle suddenly stalled. The vehicle was towed to a dealer who diagnosed that the engine block had cracked. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 75,000.
On November 4, 2013, I was driving thru at a mcdonald's when my engine steamed over, spilling antifreeze. I towed it to my brother's house as I was at least 100 miles from home. He applied a coolant pressure tester to the radiator and found a leak coming from the engine block. I had the engine replaced by him. I filed a claim with Honda under the recall to get my money back. Honda refused to pay the claim, even though recall 10-048 from Honda offers to repay customers for their expense by warranty up to 8 years and unlimited mileage. At the time the car was 7 years, 1 month old. I claimed this to Honda in August 2015, was denied in September, 2015, reason given was that my brother is not qualified as a professional mechanic to diagnose, but a coolant leak is easy to find with a pressure tester and my brother has worked on engines for years. I am out $1700 from this repair.
Engine temperature guage started registering hot, radiator fluid was leaking out of engine, vehical was towed to bob sumeral tire, they looked at the car and advised me that the engine block was cracked. Car was towed to a Honda dealership. The engine block was defective. It was replaced with new parts. Honda refused to pay for car rentals during the repairs, owner had to absorb cost. 2 week rental time [419.65]
I was driving my Honda Civic 2007 on a ramp going from one highway to another, when it completely shut down and started smoking. There was no indication that anything was wrong with the car until it stopped and started smoking. Turns out that the engine block was cracked creating overheating. The overheating caused other parts of the engine to melt, the spark plugs, oil dipstick, head is warped.
After routine oil change, by my mechanic, an oil leak was noted. After close inspection on a lift it turned out to be small fissures in oil pan metal(aluminum). The car has always been garaged, and never in an accident. The development in the metal is obviously a serious matter as an oil leak can have devastating consequences. I spoke to Honda(America) this afternoon and reported it.

When I am driving my car and it goes into a shift gear it tugs back and forth than it kicks in, in only does it at certain speed than it stops. I want to know if there any recalls on the transmission and if any repairs are being done or have been done. I am afraid that it will just break apart in the middle of the expressway and cause some pileup and my life or others may be in danger.
I was driving to work as usual and all of a sudden I smelled something burning, when I came to the stop light the front right of my cars had streams of smoke pouring out. I pulled over and the car died, I had it towed to a mechanic and he indicated there was a crack in the engine. I called Honda and they have extended the warranty on the 2007 Civic for 10years in regards to this issue of the 2007 Civic overheating and cracking/destroying the engine. It is my hope that Honda will replace the engine and honor/own the defects.
My car broke down in the middle of the freeway after the engine got overheated. Honda Civic 2007 has send a form to reimbursement, and now they are not willing to pay.

The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for inspection or repairs. The manufacturer was made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 107,000.
While getting my car serviced for new tires, I mentioned to the mechanic about the rough vibration the car has. Per mechanic, motor mount was worn, mechanic also stated that nearly every 2007 Honda Civic they service has motor mount issues. Requested mechanic to state that on bill. Called Honda, they were little to no assistance other than for me to contact local dealer. If this is a commonly occurring problem, shouldn't Honda address it? I require a car to go to and from work daily, the explanation by Honda will not suffice.
2007 Honda Civic. Consumer writes in regards to motor mounts uppers and lowers cracked and replaced twice in two weeks. The consumer stated while driving, she heard a rumbling noise and the steering wheel and dash started shaking. At the time, she didn't know the driver's side rear tire had blown out, until she arrived at the repair shop.
Car engine was running "rough" upon start for 2 days; worked out after driving 1-2 miles. Drove 15 miles and stopped to fill up with gas. Less than 1/4 mile after fill up, engine light came on. Had car towed to mechanic who had performed last oil change and major service (a month or so previously). Mechanic identified problem with #4 cylinder. Mechanic swapped spark plug in #4 cylinder with spark plug in #2 cylinder. Less than a week later engine light on again. Problem again with #4 cylinder. Replaced all spark plugs and engine air filter. One week later, heater stopped working. Next day, radiator (coolant) gauge on dash moved up past mid-point and hits 3/4 point. I stopped driving and had a friend bring coolant which was 1 gal low! (note: Mechanic checked and found coolant level full when car was in for engine light problem less than a 10 days previously. I drive less than 15 miles per day...all low speed. I park off street and have car in one spot for 9 hours during work and never saw any fluid on parking spot.) added coolant. 1 week later (coolant) gauge on dash moved up past mid-point and hit 3/4 point (after driving 5 miles at 45 M.P.H. or less). Stopped driving. Checked coolant level which was fine (full). That night got letter in mail from Honda saying that 2006 - 2009 Civics may have cracked engine blocks. All "symptoms" described in Honda letter matched what I had been experiencing (unexplained/undetected coolant loss, overheating, engine problem as evidenced by dash indicator). Brought car to Honda dealer. They said no problem with engine block. I asked them to check radiator thermostat. They said no problem. They could not explain why I lost coolant. I am in process of getting second opinion because I do not believe that Honda is committed to fixing the problem (which obviously is a manufacturing defect).
And request for reimbursement was submitted to american Honda motor co., Inc. I followed the instructions and eligibility requirements as stated on the card I received in the mail from Honda, and submitted the required documentation. The requirements were: Complete the attached request for reimbursement form attach a copy of the repair receipt or invoice for the repair attach proof of payment mail to american Honda motor co.,Inc. Honda is now asking for the serial number on the engine block before they will honor the reimbursement. The eligibility requirement does not state that the serial number is required. The eligibility requirements state: You must have had your vehicle repaired before receiving the notice. You must have owned the vehicle at the time of repair. You are still eligible to receive reimbursement if you no longer own the vehicle, as it was stolen and declared a loss by my insurance company. I no longer have the vehicle to find the serial number on the engine block. I feel Honda is not honoring their own reimbursement guidelines. My repair/replacement bill was $4863.49.

Honda Civic 2007 coupe engine block blow out during just a 15 minutes short drive!!! it happens in January when seattle weather is very chilly, my dashboard indicate the temperature of the engine is abnormally hot. Pulled over on a resident street and stop for a while, start engine after 5 minutes, it's even worse. Engine overheated even faster. Have to pull over every single 5 minutes!!! when I got out of the car, coolant all over the floor and obviously I cannot make my way home even it's 15 minutes away from home. Turns out there is a recall (extended warranty) and Honda manufacturer and dealership said they will take care of it without me paying from my own pocket. I still need to pay $500usd for the water pump and some parts cause my technician replace it by ourselves before we found out there is a recall/extended warranty. No car rentals available when replacing the engine block due to Honda's fault!!!! I wrote my experience here because I want to let other Civic users know that they don't need to pay out from their own pocket when their engine block blow out, the dealership that was helping me was not telling me they are gonna do it for free until """I ask them"""! brand new engine block replaced for 6 months now and is running good! however!! I just receive a claim form in my mail box from Honda saying there is another recall on the rapid tire wear, wth!?
Engine block cracked allowing all coolant to drain. The engine shut off, making steering very difficult at interstate speed. Vehicle was disabled on the interstate shoulder barely out of the roadway. Engine block got so hot that the head was too warped to be repaired and had to be replaced also.
Had all antifreeze on ground when I went to drive car home from work. Took it to mechanic who stated I had cracked engine. Took to dealer who stated it was cracked but still under warranty but they had to keep until Friday and today is Monday.
I live in Arizona and my car is immaculate. I took my car in to have two service bulletins fixed: 3rd gear pops out/ grinds and knocking noise from front when turning. I thought Honda dealer or american Honda Corp. Would come thru and fix what was inadequately designed/built. The dealer treated me like I was an idiot, and Honda Corp. Said I should have known and reported the problem under warranty. $1700 for 3rd gear, and they denied there was a knocking noise from front end. I didn't even complain about my rear tires wearing badly because they wont wreck my car, like the transmission and engine mount problems. Do they think I'll trade the car into Honda, so I wont have to deal with the problems, and buy a new car from them? I like my sporty Civic, but no, I wont give them my money. Very disappointed in what use to be a good car company.
The car overheated and engine light came on. The car had a cracked engine block that Honda admitted is a defect of this model car but they are only covering repair for people who come in with a problem. The dealership supposedly replaced the cracked engine block with a new one. The engine light has come on 3 additional times in the past month since the engine block was replaced. The first time we were told it was the oxygen sensor and paid approx. $380 for repairs because they claim it had nothing to do with the initial problem. Less then an hour after getting the car back the light came on again. This time they said that there was dust on a sensor do to the work they did. They claimed to repair it for no charge. They said they drove it for 20 miles with no problem. Again within an hour of getting the car back the engine light has come on for a 4th time.
